Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

From what I have read, OOS scholarships are difficult. The Corps of Cadets does offer scholarships to OOS students and, depending on the size of the scholarship (has to be at least $4k per academic year), may qualify you for an out-of-state tuition waiver from TAMU. The COA in the absence of any scholarships is >$52k (Tuition + Room & Board).

Last year(S27) my kiddos Gateway offer became official in AIS on Feb. 2nd…it had switched to Summer 2023/GEST a few days prior to that(similar to how ppl are reporting this yr).

I am looking for a response that I read yesterday about stats for students who choose waitlist verses students that choose TEAM. Starting to think I dreamed this, but I thought someone posted 4,000 students get offered waitlist, and 2,000 pick waitlist. Has anyone seen this post?@FriscoDad

He was kinesiology, so he did not try to transfer into Mays. Since business is not on the PSA list, it’s a little more challenging. Maybe not impossible, but a little more challenging.

It probably will update this morning. Did you check? Updates often happen between 630 and 7 AM.

Hoping none!

Does everyone think all Blinn/gateway/waitlist options have all gone out now? Is it just PSA left at this point?

Not sure, but we got three options on Sunday, and it said the following:

Texas A&M University receives more applications from high achieving, academically prepared applicants than we can accommodate in the freshman class. The admission limits on the College Station campus have been reached and a limited number of additional offers of full admission may be made going forward. Your achievements qualify you for consideration for the options below:

They offered the three choices of Waitlist only, Blinn Team only, or both.

When I went through this in 2022, I don’t remember there being two waves of Blinn/waitlist options that went out.

So sounds like just PSA offers remain, how long does that lag after the TEAM offers (which went out this past weekend)?

Hi @Tamc2. We saw the same in AIS. In Howdy, under Dashboard–> Overview, you can see

That’s the only time we’ve seen the word “admitted”. So we’ve been checking AIS every day since and still nothing, and it’s 3 days later. Hoping to get official details soon instead of reading the tea leaves. Congrats! (Hopefully!)

Possibly, but you never know with admissions. I was bio major, 3.8 gpa, in-state, first quarter, TO, good ECs and essays, and got PSA in mid-March.

Same here!

Does anyone know if Texas A&M will continue to be test optional next year? I’m sure there are exceptions (and I know A&M says not submitting won’t hurt), but it certainly seems like a high SAT/ACT (1360+/28+) is key to full admission. Failure to submit or submitting a low score looks like a common thread in the (non-engineering) pathway decisions.

Not submitting test scores allows more focus on grades and underrepresented high schools.

Has any TEAB options gone out yet? Are we thinking end of this week and next week?

I saw someone post (what I believe to be) TEAB options on Reddit today.

Yes, but while they say it doesn’t hurt you to go test optional, it surely will help you if you’ve got good scores and turn them in. That right there still gives the advantage to the one turning in a good test score with all things equal.

Today I got 3 options:

  1. Engineering at Galveston
  2. Engineering at McAllen
  3. Engineering at BLINN

I’m leaning towards BLINN, but I’m afraid of what my chances are to even get BLINN, as these aren’t admission offers yet.

Congratulations! Based on what I have read, Blinn TEAB would be the best choice. @FriscoDad is the expert!
