Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

Hey, let me float this out there for all those that are assuming they are getting PSA.

There is still time to apply to Galveston TAMU directly. Once there, you can work towards a major and then change majors to something that only cstat campus offers. Business is hard but doable going from maritime to straight Mays. There are also other degree plans there that can be worked on to move towards your desired degree at main campus. You won’t apply to cstat, just apply to change major (meeting change of major requirements for that degree).

I have helped many students do just that. Some even end up staying there because they find their people and passion!

This is something we are now considering and are going to tour next week. Are you saying you don’t have to apply to tamu college station for transfer, you just request change of major from Galveston and if you qualify, they transfer you?

Yes, one of my classmates who was in Galveston did this. She just put in for a change of major, got it, and is now in Cstat.

Yep! As long as you meet that majors requirements to change major (usually a math class or two but it varies). You can check out change of major requirements just by googling it.

Congrats! We still have heard nothing. 3.75 GPA, TO, recommendations, AP’s, NHS, sports, volunteer etc… nothing no change in AIS or Howdy. Accepted to Tech PreMed and Tarleton as TAMU backup, but so disappointed in the TAMU process.

@Christi1993 Do you feel applying to Galveston and going that route vs doing one year at another University (and trying to transfer in) is a better option if they want to end up at TAMU College Station no matter what?

One of my besties from a&M - her daughter did ONE semester at A&M and then changed majors into COMS in CSTAT. It was super easy. AND you can get football tickets - I think even queued before the CSTAT people so you can go visit during the fall for games.

I applied early August, and my major choice is Journalism. My GPA is a 2.9 and I didn’t submit test scores since I was unable to take the SAT or ACT. I am aware I have pretty slim chances of getting in due to my stats, COVID year really screwed me over, but I just wanted to apply because it’s been my dream school since i was a kid. Again, sorry if my question earlier was dumb, i’m just really anxious. Thank you for your help.

My son has a friend trying to get into the Ranch Mgmt major. This young man is who we are hoping will be our son’s roommate off campus. I know nothing about the Ag Science School or major. He told my son yesterday that it’s a tiny major and he won’t know if he got in until March. What say you TAMU gurus are some majors slow to admit?

Wish we would have just received Blinn Team instead of options. Congrats!

@cactusluver22 gpa and test optional will certainly work against you.
Hopefully you’ve got other college acceptances and backup plans?

If you are offered PSA, it can be a blessing-smaller campuses, smaller & easier classes. Definitely read up on it-

Not yet but we’ve been looking into the pathways to get a better idea of some of the options. Still trying to figure out the difference between TEAB and Blinn/Brenham Engineering Academy. Since it is also a co-enroll program (just different location), do we still have to be given the TEAB option on our A&M application?

Yes, this is all true. Galveston students pull football tickets online and they do it one week before CSTAT students get the chance to.

When did his offer come for BLINN team? This is exciting! Gives my friends son some hope b/c he is 3.46 and got an 1150 on the SAT. Wants KINE

There are online AP courses that can be taken in addition to DC and classes at a co-op. Feel free to message me if you would like specific suggestions.
I would also suggest studying hard for the PSAT junior year as achieving National Merit greatly improves chances of admission at TAMU. As someone else mentioned, there is an “automatic” admission for homeschoolers with a certain SAT score (this year it was 1460), but the law is brand new so it’s not clear if that score threshold will change year to year.

@AT81 under FAQs, there’s a tab that mentions the differences between the two programs -

You cannot apply for TEAB, you have to be given that offer. You are considered a full admit TAMU student. The engineering academy at Blinn Brenham is a completely separate application and you have to pre-qualify before you can apply. If accepted, the student lives in Brenham until they can ETAM into a major at CSTAT. They are not considered a full admit TAMU student, but are a student of the Blinn/Brenham college.

Hopefully you are offered PSA. It’s a good pathway into TAMU. I did it and am in my second semester at TAMU.

It is much easier to be a Galveston student and change majors than trying to transfer in from another university. Galveston is the same school as CSTAT, same degree, same ring. It can be difficult to transfer from another university.
