Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

Is that just for certain majors or for all majors? We still haven’t heard anything, and nothing has changed in AIS or Howdy.

That is only for engineering. Engineering is the only program that they put some overflow admitted students in Galveston for the first year.

Two daughters in engineering at Tech. Oldest is graduating with her CE degree on-time in May, four years, and had three really, really, good job offers before Christmas. She has signed for May.

Middle is a sophomore at Tech in their EE department.

They have offered good merit to my 2024 son also.

My son is a Finance major at Tech but also got great merit scholarships. He’s graduating early, this semester. I have alot of friends whose kids have gone through Tech Engineering or are currently there and I agree, it’s a fantastic program. My younger son was auto admit and got great scholarships as well but UTA offered him
more and he wanted a smaller campus.

So my son’s major is not engineering so does that mean he wouldnt be considered at Galveston automatically?

@HopefulinTX no, he would need to apply separately. But isn’t he Geophysics? Pretty sure there’s nothing even close to that offered at TAMUG.
I’d research PSA campuses; but just realize your son may not get offered all the PSA campuses.

It would help if you’d post son stats on this post, so others could chime in.

Yes,his first choice is Geophysics and 2nd choice is Environmental Geosciences at A&M. I saw there was a major at Galveston called Coastal Environmental Science that might have the into classes he needs (need to still research). Anyways, yes, highly competive high school and top 26 % (so frustrating to not be in top Q), 1250 SAT, Eagle Scout, Part time work for last year and a half, over 400 volunteer hours, 2 vasity sports. Would love any feedback anyone has!

Not getting the first year GPA happened to my son at Miami University of Ohio. His GPA needed to be 3.5 for business -and wasn’t even close. He switched to Computer Science and then transferred to UH in the business school. It worked out great-he was already home when COVID hit and he was able to get a 20 hour per week job which led into a permanent position. You never know what will happen with GPA the first year. And we blew about $50k on the first year…

My son is seriously considering Tech Honors over Baylor, Blinn TEAM, CU… lots of other great schools. They seem to be super supportive of the students success. He also likes that if he decides he doesn’t want to be a physical therapist on the kine track he can move into business major. I think lots of kids should consider Texas Tech if they are forced into pathways that don’t work for them!

I’m curious if anyone who selected Team only this weekend has heard back. The 3 options showed up Saturday for my son, so we selected the Team only option. Info in this thread was super helpful! Guessing based on previous posts/comments, it’ll still be several more days?

Exact same boat! Checking daily, following this thread in case it’s a weird timed drop (like last weekend!), but no changes yet.

PSA offers already going out, I didn’t realize that could come this early. I saw kids on Reddit sharing screenshots of their PSA offers. Perhaps that is for engineering kids only?

There have been some PSA offers coming out for non engineering too.

Any non-engineering majors still receiving Blinn TEAM or Gateway, other than last weekend? Or has that ship sailed?

We selected TEAMS only as well… Just waiting!

It was about a week or 2 (but closer to a week) for those that chose team only to get their 7 tabs and official offer.

For anyone considering PSA or PTA there is a Facebook parent group that has a bunch of information. They also allow students to join — and was super helpful to me during my year of PSA . Here’s a link. Texas A & M - Parents of PSA/PTA Students | Facebook
