Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

@LaFinalista YES! Truly reminded me of A&M in the 80s. Fantastic culture and tradition…and maroon!

@Abie456 take the scholarship and run! You shouldn’t be coming home much while you’re in college anyway. Parents and siblings can visit once during football season. Trust me, MS State is a hidden gem!

Thank yall so much for this! This has actually really really reassured me about my choices I appreciate it so much

A first start would be holistically admitting everyone to Mays. I went to a below average East TX school and top 10%, many of whom go to SFA, are directly admitted to Mays regardless of test score.

Can’t change state law, Top Ten% is state mandated.
I hear ya tho. Mays (and many majors) would be tough for students not academically prepared.

Laws change all the time. UT got it reduced to 6%. A&M can do the same. I suspect it will happen eventually. Just not soon enough.

Maybe they’ll fix A&M’s portion of the PUF then too…not that we need a ton more money on campus these days…

Personally, l wish it would go to 8 or 6%.
But being a land grant school, I don’t see that happening…still plenty of room on West Campus to grow (tho it is already WAY too big).
UT is landlocked.

The interesting thing about these enrollment numbers is that, with the giving back piece embedded in the culture, A&M is uniquely positioned to have absurd donor funding in a generation. They’re gonna need a 4th deck on Kyle in 20 years.

@SGTGold #truth!

UTD does not participate in the CAP program

UT fills 75% of its class with top 6%.

A&M has roughly 68% with top 10%. When that number goes over 75% there will be an argument to change. The geographic diversity must work out okay for Mays. The top 10% for engineering has to go through ETAM.

Hello everyone, someone on Reddit said they got a Mays acceptance today. Is there still hope for Mays? Because I applied in early September and haven’t heard back. People have been getting Blinn and all recently but I didn’t get anything yet. So maybe there’s a chance of acceptance?

Yeah I just realized that lol I havent done any research I was just naming UT system schools I knew of

No chance in heck they received Mays acceptance. Only way would be if they appealed a decision where they should have been admitted in the fall.

Do not believe it unless they show their howdy showing it.

Our son just received CAP at UT…praying for A&M…but crickets.

People lie (or ■■■■■) on reddit all the time. I don’t believe the stories of people that claim to have gotten in way late or with crazy low SAT scores and bad GPAs.

@ChristiR93 & @52AG82 Yall were so helpful when we were here 2 years ago. My 2026 Aggie got the 3 options around this time 2 years ago. Blinn team with Mays was awesome for her. She has a 4.0 and will transfer to Mays after this semester so it was 100% the right decision for her but my 2028 daughter is scratching her head on what happened to her app. No change in AIS/Howdy. She is a communications major. Tons of her friends got direct admit, Blinn team, gateway,3 options, and some PSA & even rejections but crickets on her app since 8/1? I don’t know what to tell her as we just wait. What’s left?

My son is a good student, but hearing this gives me more confidence that he will do well if he puts in the work.

So happy for your Mays TEAM pathway girl! She’s killing it!

What are ‘28 daughter stats?

She’s 3.5 gpa/4.1 weighted. Has ECs with young life, plenty of volunteer hours, club and high school soccer, work experience as a manager, etc. 1140 SAT (not great and she is not a great test taker) but I think she did a great job on her essay comparing herself to the underdog Kentucky Derby winner, Rich Strike, in finally breaking out of the middle pack and figuring it out. But she was late to figure stuff out and sadly has gotten nothing but straight A’s in her senior yr when it no longer matters. She won’t be devastated as she knows it will be a stretch but it’s the wait…radio silence that is so hard and she just wants to move on with Arkansas or OU if TAMU would just tell her no. I am trying my best to set that expectation that she should plan on straight Blinn if she really wants TAMU to be with her sister or decide she was destined for somewhere else and it will be great regardless of where she lands. Her sister was a 3.98/4.8 with a 1330SAT and ridiculous ECs to get Blinn team so she knows this is a reach.
