Yep, some people in Reddit are suspicious about this.
I’m guessing 2nd quarter? Last year there were Opportunity Majors offered (you can Google it), but not sure if that’s a thing this year?
Gosh, UA and OU are great…I’d encourage taking one of those, especially if she got her major choice. Hard to beat full acceptance at SEC and Big 12 schools.
Hopefully she will get a decision SOON!
Yes, she is a marketing major at Arkansas and we’ve accepted that as backup. She is second quarter like her sister was. Just seeking closure I guess. She will be well prepared wherever she goes. Her sister said the 1st yr at Blinn team/TAMU was way easier than her senior yr in high school so she’s gonna be fine.
I feel for you.
UA campus is GORGEOUS…cute town, so many outside activities, great athletics, true seasons.
At this point she might get offered a random Opportunity Major (assuming they do that this year?). Strange she hasn’t gotten PSA or rejection yet-if that’s the decision-since they have started going out.
I am sorry…
College admissions is a crap shoot for sure. Many kids just got capped at UT today and some had stats that were insane compared to some that got direct admission so it’s unpredictable but not the end all. I tell my girls all the time that things that don’t go your way just build grit. I made plenty of mistakes and didn’t have the best gpa/ test scores and I make a great living comparable to friends that graduated from an IVY. There is always a way to grow and improve if you want it.
I wound definitely say accept all A&M offer including Blinn Team and TAMU Galveston
If you get those you are still an Aggie with the A&M benefits!
Hi,
I just checked my howdy today and got 7 tabs, does that mean im going to get an offer?
Yes, seven tabs means you’re getting some type of admission. AIS should update soon. Congrats!
Congrats on the 7 tabs! I saw PSA offers going out earlier this week, and even outright rejection letters, so I wasn’t expecting more batched offers. However, quite a few seem to have got them yesterday/today.
Congratulations! What major did you choose?
engineering
Did you receive the options email last week or is this just a new offer altogether?
I got the 3 options on Tuesday, and I got 7 tabs just today
Did you get options last week?
Tuesday, 30 January
Which of the 3 options did you choose?
Let’s agree to disagree. A majority of students coming from highly competitive high schools in TX are at a major disadvantage when it comes to in-state admissions, as rank is the single most important factor in admission consideration due to the top 10% law specific to TX. Even though you might find it annoying having to read about this, as a parent not living this reality, the moderators on this forum likely have a very good understanding of the specific challenges these kids are dealing with and are able to advise them better knowing their circumstances.
How do you know if your 6A HS is overly competitive?
-
You’re one of two seniors in your AP Calc BC and AP Physics C classes; everyone else is 2 yrs younger.
-
Half of your class barely passed AP Calc/Physics but none scored lower than a 4 on the AP exam.
-
Your AP Calc BC teacher also teaches the same class at your feeder middle school to 7th/8th graders.
-
Your school counselor tells you that unless you start taking AP classes in 7th grade, you don’t have a realistic chance at graduating a valedictorian
-
An UW 4.0 GPA with a rigorous AP curriculum doesn’t guarantee you top 10%.
-
Your friend with a 4.2 GPA and high SAT score is assigned 2nd QR and told by TAMU they have a low chance at admission due to ranking (even though TAMU has 4 valedictorians the same year with lower GPA/TO auto-admitted and awarded a free ride
-
The top 3% of students in your graduating class are all admitted to Ivy League schools
-
Your school has 60-90 national merit finalists/semi-finalists each year
Yes, I have been here since 2011 ( a couple of years before my eldest kid applied). I am my kids’ high school counselor, but I think I would have done this anyway. I don’t understand parents that spend more time researching what car to buy than this important investment.
I love that TAMU tries to make a way for most students to be Aggies.
You are right, it is that time for blame/TAMU- needs- to- change stage. Sadly,it kind of overshadows kids/ parents questions and admission choices. We are all parents and kids and we are rooting for each other. Perhaps another school is a better fit, we are rooting for you! Perhaps a pathway is a fit , we are rooting for you!
Happy to hear about your Team daughter. Well done on her efforts and achievements!
As for 2028… hope she gets a decision soon. But Arkansas is amazing. Love that school.
