Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

Yes! @AggieLove this is the link for the major at TAMUG-

Exactly what does your son ultimately want to do?
Nursing, biology teacher?

@MMel you would have to ask ResLife those questions.
I’m sure students get a bed, maybe a desk? Unsure about anything else? I would think cheapest dorm rate while in Temp, then rate would increase if/when they move to a permanent room.
But all great questions to ask ResLife.

Does Texas A&M hold in-person events for admitted engineering students?

Another morning, another nothing for the options crowd it appears…

So it seemed from this thread and others that getting the 3 options was almost a given you would get Blinn Team if you chose Blinn Team (non-engineering). Since it’s taking so long and Engineering is already doing PSA, kind of not feeling good about Blinn Team chances. Is this year just a crazy year? I’ve only heard of 1 person that we know applied that wasn’t top 10% that got full admission.

@texag97 Engineering reviews separately, they don’t participate in Blinn TEAM.
Engineering has TEAB, McAllen & Galveston pathways…completely separate from Blinn TEAM.

A&M holistic review is always January-March notification, as stated on Admissions page.

He is interested in either pre-med, pharmaceutical sales, or some kind of biomedical research. BIMS is a broad field of applied biology so there are tons of options for him. It’s tough to know at 17 years old exactly where you will land!

@AggieLove i would definitely have him apply to Galveston-Oceans and One Health-then tour the campus. Much smaller campus and classes, newer dorms, campus literally overlooking Gulf of Mexico.

I know of engineering student got full admit yesterday so I’m not sure engineering is just doing pathways at this point?

Does White Creek fill up like Day 1 similar to Hullabaloo?

No, because White Creek is on west campus, they tend to fill up much later than Hullabaloo and other modular dorms. When we toured this fall, the tour guide said most of the people in White Creek were business majors or older students.

Thanks! My daughter loves to cook her own meals, but wants to live on campus. This looks like a great option for her since it has a kitchen.

Hullabaloo has 3-4 full kitchens per floor if I remember correctly. I’m not familiar with other dorms, but I know the shared kitchens were used a lot when he was there.

@texasmom7 White Creek is historically one of the last to fill, because:

*location (on West Campus)
*price
*no Dining Hall on West Campus

Except for Engineering Village, EVERY dorm has every major, and the majority of students are freshman.

I went to an admissions pathways session today at Aggieland Saturday. They said there were 65k applicants this year for 11k spots. They are almost done with freshman applications and expect that they will wrap up admissions by the end of the month. They said they think 99% of applicants will have their offer or decision by then. They said they are pretty much done with full admits and the majority of the remaining offers (for those still in review) will be PSA but that there will still be a few full admits, and some Team and Gateway admits too. Hope that is helpful to you guys!

Wow, just wow! The number of applicants just gets bigger & bigger. Which also means, it gets increasingly more competitive every year.

Can you go back and tell them that I said it would be great if they just wrapped it up by Wednesday? You can even give my username. :sunglasses:

My son got PSA this past Wednesday, along with a friend of his coincidentally, and checked to see which schools were listed - he had all of the system schools so he’s not disappointed because at this point, he just assumed anything TAMU was a long shot. He’s already been accepted to UT Dallas for computer science (and where is older brother attends), Texas State (same degree) and UTSA (for their BS cybersecurity track). He has a 3.6 GPA (UW), top quarter, T/O, wrote a heartfelt essay about a personal struggle he’s dealt with, service hours through NHS, and 4 years of orchestra. The friend left public school for private but I don’t know his stats. We have a lot to weigh here, because he’s also interested in being in CSTAT and applied to Texas A&M Commerce because they have a BS Cybersecurity program that is taught at the RELLIS campus in conjunction with Blinn. We’re driving up from Houston next week to visit RELLIS. I’ve read through the majors offered through PSA, but we’re not sure what would be a close second in terms of the degree he’s most interested in. He also has an Aggie sister graduating in May. He really wants to be Aggie! Sorry for the ramble. Anyone else have thoughts or suggestions, things to consider?

@Scutr1 can’t imagine turning down UTD CompSci or UTSA Cybersecurity. Both are outstanding programs! And you can’t beat direct admit to their programs.
The A&M Commerce degree thru RELLIS sounds okay-not near as impressive as the other two, tho.
And he wouldn’t be an Aggie, his degree & ring will be from A&M Commerce.
I’d go tour UTD and UTSA (if you haven’t already) and look up their ratings/rankings, compared to Commerce.
