Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

I am just asking out of curiosity because I am wondering what other wave(s) of decisions could come before the wave(s) of decisions for the people who selected one of the three options (TEAM only, Waitlist only, and TEAM and Waitlist both).

I got log into view AIS, but only 3 tabs, and no buttons. So I guess PSA right?

How would PSA work for Political Science tho?

The PSA page on the website lists the majors that have a pathway

My son applied for Mechanical Engineering on 8/18

SAT 1200
GPA 3.5 UW/ 6.25 weighted Magna Cum Laude
2nd Quarter
Varsity sport 3 years/Club 4 years
80 hrs volunteer
strong connections with A&M

Knowing full admit was unlikely, he applied for Multidisciplinary Eng. Technologies in Galveston on 10/18. He received a Denial from Galveston on Jan 11. Still Under Review for College Station a month later?

Although the denial was upsetting, I’m thankful for that denial in January. It has allowed us to move on. For anyone next year wondering if they should apply directly to Galveston, I’d suggest it. You get a much faster decision.

Former PSA student here. PSA has political science BA & BS.

If he gets PSA, that major is one he could do. https://admissions.tamu.edu/getattachment/75211a8e-0037-4226-93b1-0c75165c9a08/MXET-PSA-Course-Sheet-23-24.pdf

What was his SAT breakdown on math score v. reading? And what is the highest level math he is currently in? I think that could be the reason for the Galveston denial but who knows. Thanks for sharing this information and I hope that you get an offer for something of interest to your son on the still pending CS application. Have you also looked at the engineering academies? They also have an SAT math requirement (it is either 620 or 650 if I am remembering correctly), but they could be a good option.

Not sure if someone posted this but is there a FB page for TAMU Galveston Engineering families? I was thinking that maybe we can connect with some other female students who spent their first year at TAMUG and then went to CS so we can hear how they liked it?

@Abigail_Anderson

Thank you!!

This one is super small, might not be too helpful

There’s also Galveston Aggie Mom’s Club. I’m sure there are mom’s to female Sea Aggie’s. I wouldn’t focus just on Engineering specific, as there are other majors offered.

Super, I will check them out!! My daughter was a bit taken back by the ratio of male to female. It is not a deal breaker but she was hoping for a more even ratio

no he was differed from EA and have not heard a peep.

highest Math SAT 640
Currently taking AP Calculus A/B
Completed AP Physics junior year, taking Earth Science as a senior
2nd quarter killed him. Hard to believe 30% of his hs class is graduating magna cum laude

Info from another AO…. She said the 3 options group should have a decision by the end of March including waitlist. She also stated waitlist is more of a pool than a numbered list. Some may get admission to their major if it’s open or they will select an open major. It wasn’t necessarily that 1st and 2nd majors were both full. I do wonder if there will be any spots since they had so many applicants. I suppose the dates could still change but she sounded knowledgeable.

Sounds like good qualifications for an engineering academy if he is interested in that.

End of March? Crazy. Maybe they’re hoping people just drop out of process at this point. Should have done Blinn and waitlist if there’s no difference. Oh well!

The good news about that is tomorrow is, in fact, by the end of March.
