How did your son get PSA when applying for engineering?
They offered PSA to a bunch of engineering applicants. PSA is not a good choice for most who want engineering because the number of majors you can choose from is very limited. If you want one of those majors, great. If not, you need to move on to another plan.
I just looked at that the other day. Industrial Distribution is an awesome major though. I was surprised it was PSA.
Hi will your son stay with Oceans major for four years or transfer to college station to a different engineering major? My son got PSA engineering and I am wondering if he should apply directly to Galveston, if that will give him more engineering major options (PSA only offers a select few to chose from).
He applied for Comp Science, but it doesn’t really matter which one you pick (as long as it is one offered at Galveston) because all engineering students start out in general engineering and they will go through the same ETAM process whether they are at Galveston or College Station. They will select 3-5 majors they are interested in. If a student selects one offered at Galveston as their top choice, then they will most likely get that one and stay at Galveston. But if they select something else, like electrical, mechanical, chemical, etc., then they will go to College Station the semester after they ETAM because those majors aren’t offered in Galveston.
OK so he will go into the pool with everyone else after the first year. So there is no guarantee he will get the major he wants after the first year. That is my main fear that he will not get the major he wants because the competition for the most popular majors will be so great.
It’s the same for all engineering students. If he gets a 3.75 he’s guaranteed his first choice though. Yes it’s competitive. ETaM is not for the weak for sure. Before yall applied to Tamu, were you aware of ETaM?
Cant find it. Do you prehaps have the link?
Yes we knew about the general engineering for the first year but he was excepted to PSA which has only a limited number of majors. It sounds like applying to Galveston may be a sort of side door.
Okay. Good. Was just confused when you mentioned your fear of not getting major. Psa, full, Teab, academy, Galveston… all have the same fear. So rest easy that you are not alone.
Maybe the AO was ready to push decisions this morning, but they have AT&T on an iPhone?
Who needs memes when you can write your own!?
A million unemployed comedians in America, and I’m making jokes to most on-edge group of people I don’t really even know…
Can we be friends? I think I could highly benefit.
I reached out to the admin a couple days ago and told her that many new Gateway parents are interested. I asked how new parents can get into the group, but I haven’t heard back yet.
Day… 26?
I heard March 1st during the TEAM presentation at Aggieland. I thought to myself ‘that’s for waitlist applications.’ I am now thinking that is for most everyone. Ugh!
