Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

THAT was funny!!!

Yes, that’s possible. Now that people were in the know about quickly deciding on TEAM, they could have been inundated with team only decisions. But that’s just an assumption.

I believe @FriscoDad made a comment last week that he believes the applicants have already been reviewed, selected, and decisions loaded…just not released.

I wish they would just hit the send button already! Not that hard!

And miss out on all this fun and anxiety?!

I think there are about 30 parents on this board with kids waiting to hear from TAMU. And most of us selected ‘Team Only.’ So the question I ask myself… do we represent 1%, 5%, 10% of families? This is definitely a biased sample here on CC. Raise your hand if you have an advanced degree (:raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:t2:). So yeah, I think more kids selected Team Only. But did the AO predict this looking at yearly trends? And send out fewer option offers? I could really drive myself crazy thinking about all the unknown variables.

Both Frisco and Christi have commented that they should already be taking this into account and expect a yield.

I could be wrong, but I’m guessing the yield on the posters on here is going to be damned near 100%. In the big world, though, I’m sure it’s not nearly that high. Too many other variables, including back-up plans coming home to roost (or maybe A&M was the back-up plan).

So are you saying that the percent outside of this forum and Reddit for applicants who selected TEAM ONLY is way lower than what is is on these forums or Reddit?

From previous years experiences, have you seen more reports of students selecting TEAM ONLY this year than previous years?

Based on what you’ve seen on these forums and Reddit

Oh, I wasn’t saying that at all.

I was just saying the final “yes I’m accepting a TEAM offer” from the people fervently posting on here has to be near 100%.

I’m also guessing the vast majority of people who posted here BEFORE the options came out would be TEAM only. In the universe, I’m sure it’s lower (just using common sense).

Had we not found this board, I would’ve chosen both Waitlist and TEAM, no question. My logic would’ve been “why limit your options?” I think that’s how the average Joe will behave…but what percentage of the total “Options-Offers” has been social media savvy. Quien Sabes?

Yes, from this sampling on here and reddit, I would say more chose team only and chose it quickly versus waiting on deadline.

From the sampling my daughter saw at school, 82 kids in her class, 37 applied to TAMU, she knows of about 10 who received the options when she did and most of those chose Blinn Team and waitlist.

Great sampling! Have any of them heard back?

None yet

My daughter said everyone she knows who got the “options” is still waiting

Most selecting “Team only” not just started this year, but over 3 years ago during pandemic. This year releasing PSA first mainly benefits system schools enrollment. PSA students successfully transit to TAMU have very high (98%) graduation rate so TAMU may want to expand that or change the perception of “soft reject”.

TAMU holistic enrollment yield has not been high (~43%) for the last five years even with pandemic spike of applications.

Holistic admitted data below include full admission, TEAM and TEAB. While many parents in this thread are eager for their students to enroll, there are many students won’t enroll even though they gain admission to TEAM/TEAB.

TAMU relies heavily on TEAM and TEAB students replenishing the high drop out rate of freshmen and sophomore due to auto-admit law, there is no reason to believe TAMU cannot fulfill what they offered.
But like previous years, some students picking waitlist may have to wait longer or get PSA.

Oh sorry for misunderstanding! Thank you for the clarification.

Does she know what those students at her school picked?

Mix of TEAM only and Waitlist / TEAM (mostly this). I agree with whoever said most people would naturally pick waitlist / TEAM unless you have knowledge that picking TEAM only yields a faster response. A lot of kids are still in shock about the number of high stat kids who got capped at UT. So there is a lot of talk about that as well.
