She applied the morning of August 1st and found out on Dec. 15. Full admission - Construction Science major.
The waiting was brutal. The horror stories of well-qualified kids who did not get in were terrible. There has just got to be a better way.

@RachelMTAMU94 Was that her first choice major? Is she intending to graduate with that degree? Just curious bc that’s my son’s first choice major.
I agree wholeheartedly.
Yes, or I’d be happy with a “barring any unforeseen issues, you should have a decision between X and Y weeks.”
My Class of '26 Aggie’s wait was brutal. Oh, I would wish it on my worst enemy.
This is why I appreciate the College of Engineering’s first year process. If the auto admits (to the University) got their first choice, my Computer Engineering son would have been left out in the cold. Instead, he proved himself in the University classrooms where it really matters.
And now we wait for our younger son’s College of Engineering decision.
Our Class of '26 Aggie son attended a non-ranking magnet high school. TAMU placed him in the second quarter. He applied towards the beginning of October. 1360 SAT - one try and done. Eagle Scout, four-year athletic letterman (state competitor senior year), captain two years, many APs, NHS, yada, yada.
He received his acceptance to the College of Engineering Friday, December 3rd.
Yes, CoSci was her first choice major, and she loves it. So, barring any curveballs, yes, she is intending to graduate with a CoSci degree. We were surprised that it interested her - we thought she’d go environmental design, but she preferred the project management aspect of CoSci. It is a fun combination of civil engineering (without the engineering), business, and architecture. And lots of nice guys in her classes. (91% men when she applied.) Perfect for her. Good luck to your son! Gig 'em!!
Thank you @RachelMTAMU94
My son is still under holistic review for May, but I’m curious on what happens if he finishes the current Fall semester and lands in the top ten percent?
He is currently in the 12% range at a large 6A class of ~950 students and took several DC classes last summer that weren’t calculated in his GPA plus will finish this semester with all A’s in six AP classes.
His high school will rerank in early January based on the Fall grades.
Thanks
Auto admit is based on the end of junior year rankings. I don’t remember if TAMU asks for midterm grades, but if they do, I’m sure an improvement will be in his favor. Good luck!
This is so good to hear. D24 is intending to do CoSci at A&M or KState. We spent a day with the CoSci department last spring and they sold her on the major. She also considered engineering & architecture but feels Construction Science is kind of a middle lane that she would enjoy the most. PRAYING for a mid-December email here!
From what I know, if a senior reaches top 10% in the middle of their senior year, A&M won’t consider them top 10 % for fall admission but they can apply for auto-admit for spring semester provided they take NO college coursework in between hs graduation and enrollment in A&M. It would be a good option for some kids.
They will not adjust rankings based on any grades past junior year. But if you are able to send it in… it definitely can’t hurt.
Hi. My son got his application in Nov 30. We are hoping for Blinn TEAM as full admittance is unlikely. His first choice was Mechanical Engineering and second choice was Business. If he doesn’t get into either major, can he still be accepted and choose a different major? There are several other majors he is interested in (i.e. Agricultural Economics).
With engineering as his first choice, they will most likely offer another option like blinn (Teab) that’s not a typo… it’s different than team, Galveston or McAllen or nothing at all and he’ll need to apply to Tamu academies.
Mays is probably full by now or will have one more round before break.
I have seen them offer another major IF they were top 10% because they have to accept them. But that’s the only time I’ve seen or heard about it. The guy tanked his sat cause he didn’t think it mattered. He was offered Teab or change of major.
Thank you for the reply! If he didn’t get engineering offer, would it potentially increase his chances for either TAMU acceptance or Blinn TEAM offer if he switched his second choice from Business / Mays to Ag Economics (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences)?
@AggieDad2025 it would help to know student stats-rank, gpa, test scores, etc.
Hello! Every kid is different, so take this with a grain of salt. I also have a son waiting for Engineering. He applied early August, has a 1430 SAT, and A&M has him listed as first quarter with all the things! We are from a small private school, that doesn’t rank. He is laser focused on A&M engineering at the College Station campus. We have been advised from our college counselor that is very risky to switch majors at this point in the game. He has Engineering as first and second choice. Like I said every kiddo/situation is different, just sharing what we have been told. Good luck to your kiddo!!! My heart goes out to these kids, they are all amazing in their own way & the stakes keep getting higher & higher!
I don’t know about switching majors this late in the game. That seems risky. Depending on your son’s stats, he could have a good chance for admission still, especially in engineering because they haven’t even begun to give out TEAB and Galveston offers and there will be a lot of kids accepted when those waves hit.
Are there any updates on Mays everyone? I haven’t seen anybody move down to their second-choice major that put Mays as their first. There haven’t been any decisions for Mays this week and last week though. Maybe tomorrow since it’s a Thursday?
I feel like there hasnt been much of anything recently
I see a user on Redditt mentioned that they see the 2nd option ‘Econ’ showing up now. Does this mean mays is full and those who applied to Mays will soon see their second option
