All A&M campus-wide and Internal Departmental Scholarships start being awarded in February.
On the initial application whether through Common or the Texas App, there were sections for applying for scholarships based on anticipated major.
I.E. my son had to complete another round of application questions and essays for Engineering.
I am NOT talking about any Honors Applications.
Go on to the Howdy Portal and confirm you have applied for all the Internal scholarships.
Yes if you receive $4000 or more in “Internal” Scholarships you get the In-State Tuition Waiver.
@jimdlt1 and @k3211 deadline to apply, to be considered for incoming freshman scholarships, was December 1.
It is very difficult to receive the needed $4k, to get OOS tuition waiver-unless NMSF or in the Corps.
Anyone who applied to Mays seeing the second major option now?
No. You?
Not yet. Have you seen any admissions to Mays in Dec- Jan in the past years?
@kelly8 the 1st major choice will remain the same, until a decision has been made. When you see major change, that indicates a decision is coming.
Unless very high stats/scores, holistic candidates shouldn’t expect to hear until January, at the earliest.
*Mays has most likely been full for weeks, probably longer
I haven’t. I’m assuming Mays is full.
Just had a friend share this weekend that they got accepted into Biology with a 1100 on her SAT and is 26.8% in her graduating class. She has taken 9 AP tests and got a 3 on her
This weekend?
My Engineering kiddo got a message that all applicants that met Early Action Deadline have been deferred till regular decision timeline, Jan-Feb. More waiting.
same i got that same message.
Is it just on the website or was it a personal email?
On the website. Only said early action Enge students.
My daughter’s portal said the same message. We are OOS from Massachusetts, our school does not rank, her application is listed that she is 1st quartile, she has a 4.0 GPA, 1300 SAT, 7 APs including AP Calc and AP Physics Mechanics C. SHe has a long list of activites and leadership roles. I am trying to tell her to not be concerned about this deferral message. Should we be concerned? We thought this was a good fit school. Thoughts?
She sounds like a great candidate. Her SAT is probably why she wasn’t selected already, but I feel that she’lll get some kind of offer if not full admit.
My son has a 1430, same AP classes as your child, & all the things……we are being told they saw a large amount of applications come in this week, so they deferred all. We have also been told Engineering isn’t full. My son applied early Aug in hopes of having some good news because all he wants for Christmas is to be an Aggie Engineer!
It’s a downer for those of us who are waiting. To put it in perspective, because I need perspective this morning, for this current academic year, I did a little looking on the TAMU Accountability website. I see 48,516 undergrad, first time in college applications were submitted to TAMU, and they had 14,287 College of Engineering applications. Granted 4,864 were 10%, so Admissions had to fully review 9,423 non-auto admit incoming first year applications. My son wants to study Ocean Engineering in Galveston. As much as I wish they had given my son a decision in August (heck - we’re talking one kid who wants to stay in Galveston), that’s not realistic. So, we wait.
My calculations are probably rough - I tried to filter out not pertinent groups.
I’m also wondering about Political Science–1st quarter
Same, I know my stats are a little on the lower end, but I did get first quarter and haven’t heard anyone getting anything from Bush. Getting a little worried.
Thank you for this. I wonder how many auto kiddos ended up at TAMU? When we did our engineering tour, they told us that out of the 14,000+ applications they ended up taking 4000 Freshman.
