Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

S24’s AIS doesn’t have that banner. I guess because S24 was already accepted??

and @jimdlt1, Admissions now shows the following banner at the top of the log in page: applicant.tamu.edu.

I don’t have that login page anymore with S24 being an accepted student, Goes straight to Howdy, Howdy Portal fully operational, NSC Scheduled, Housing Deposit completed, etc.

I am wondering if this is simply a case of not enough time to get through all the applicants by the holidays. More applicants than last year? Admission reviewer absent? It is better to let everyone know now that they are behind than having parents check portals and calling every 5 minutes because “historically” they would have heard by now.

As far as I’ve seen, Admissions never sends out decisions on all who apply by the Engineering deadline. They defer applicants to January, February and beyond every year.

At least they let everyone know, whereas other schools leave people hanging.

Yes, although I would rather it be like Domino’s pizza tracker.

Now, there’s an idea! Imagine if all schools that use the common app were required to release their ED, EA, and RD decisions on the same day (like the ivys do). You log into your account on EA day and your decisions are all there, then same for RD. None of this getting some decisions in August and waiting months for others.

Not sure if this is common knowledge to everyone else, (I just found this out myself), but I was able to find out that this year there are over 65,000 applications in-holistic review and this was told to me directly by a person who reviews the applications, so maybe that’s why everything is taking awhile.

@AbdulAlimi that sounds really high.

@ChristiR93 or @FriscoDad any idea how many applicants there were this year?

65000 likely include transfer (~10K), master and PhD applicants. Undergraduate first time freshmen should be around 42K to 50K.

I say this because I was a Posse Finalist and the lady told us that much, so other then that you can be right,

Any status/update on being a Posse finalist?

Unfortunately, I didn’t get it however two of my friends did, so I’m proud of them. Hopefully being a finalist has some influence, because Posse said being a finalist can. But A&M is is very competitive, so hopefully, I can join them as an Aggie.

@AbdulAlimi well shoot, I was pulling for you!
Congrats to your friends, I love that you’re supportive/excited for them!
If you are offered a pathway-TEAB, Gateway or even PSA…take it! PSA is a great offer for many students, and it’s only a year at an A&M system school. Be sure you’re familiar the various pathways (Google). And don’t forget to look into the local TAMU Engineering Academies.
Hopefully you’ve applied to other schools, also?

Indeed I have, but anything right now from A&M would be good

@AbdulAlimi if I remember correctly, you haven’t taken Calculus? I’m afraid that’ll keep you out of Engineering, so just be prepared. Don’t put all your eggs in the A&M basket…

Taking Pre-Calc next semester so I can get a bit of experience

@ALL how are people applying for Fafsa in Dec —-when 2023 income documents won’t be available until Jan??

Does scholarship $$$ go toward housing? Or is that left up to student and loans?
