Departments are full when NSC registration is full. Each year only very few who pay for NSC but decline admission eventually.
We know quite a few high achieving/auto admit kids who wait until Jan:Feb to register for NSC (my own Mays Aggie did), to get other school decisions, weigh options.
Maybe TAMU has a ratio/algorithm they use to guesstimate?
I would agree that makes sense but Mays is full in October/november. I’m doubtful they max out NSC by that time.
Hi! Question.. If Mays is full by that time, what does that mean for holistic? Is it likely that holistic will begin to hear back some time this year? It was mentioned that most won’t hear back until the early months of next year.. first time doing this process & don’t know timeframes of the past.(Submitted Aug. 1, holistic; hopeful!)
Welcome to the Chaos! Lol
There will be some holistic apps that get admitted to Mays and they’ll hear before December. If it’s January and you haven’t heard, then you’ll get 2nd choice major if still available.
My son’s application was downloaded from Common App on Monday. It is now Thursday and he has not received his UIN/AIS email. His brother received one 24 hours after downloading. Has anyone else’s taken this long?
Not max out NSC by October/November, but addressing the question “Surely their estimations aren’t always 100% correct on how many auto admits will actually enroll”
Based on the stats I listed a few posts above and previous year’s stats, do you think he has a shot at getting accepted to Mays, or even Agbusiness/A&M in general? You mentioned Mays holistic acceptances need “high scores” - not sure if his are high enough even for consideration, or if he would’ve been better off listing Agbusiness as his first choice instead.
I just wanted to clarify for the peeps that NSC being full doesn’t make the department full. They’re full before NSC is full for that major. Otherwise Mays would be open in January/February…
I think his score is solid enough to keep it as Mays with his 1st quarter standing and course rigor. He has a good shot and will most definitely be offered admission in some capacity.

Yes. Last year it was about 8 days later. This year closer to 10.
Hello,
Is there any disadvantage of not submitting SAT scores in the admission process to College of Engineering.
From what I understand, if the score does not help their chances of admission then it will be set aside and not considered. But I’m sure that some of the more seasoned members here could explain it better.
You’ll be at. Disadvantaged to those that submit great scores. But you’d be at the same disadvantage if you submit bad scores.
What rank and what’s the highest math taken?
Highest Math is Calculus BC enrolled in senior year. Weighted GPA is 4.75 and unweighted 3.8..Prior to this Precalc Advanced was taken in sophomore ..
@FriscoDad is better at gauging qualifications for engineering.
If holistic and receive assigned rank of first quarter, it is better submit scores if score is greater than 1400. In the last few cycles 1300 to 1400 may lead to TEAB.
Without score or test optional, decisions will come very late between late January and March.
For the early action, does the SAT score need to be submitted by 15th October to the college
For early action they’ll use whatever info they have. But if you get a higher score afterwards, they’ll take that into account for regular admission cycle.
