Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

Looks like the Department of Resident Life is ahead of the ball this year and may have the housing application portal open before the first round of admittance goes out. It will be open next Friday 9/13. I know that last year they were a few days behind in opening the portal so hopefully this year goes a little smoother. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=526330469779987&set=a.185446690535035

Do you still need official acceptance before applying to housing portal? If so, I’m assuming this would just have the portal ready to go as soon as acceptances are received, or does this mean that a student could apply for housing with the 7 tabs but not official acceptance yet?

I do not know but I am sure @Christi1993 knows that answer.

Last year, I think acceptances rolled out on 9/14 (Thu), so I would not be surprised if this year they roll out on 9/13 (Fri), same day as the housing portal, or earlier.

A&M does not allow Housing deposit to be paid, until official acceptances have gone out.
ResLife won’t open link until then.
Sept 15ish < > has been the date for the last year or so, for official acceptances to start.
ResLife is never ‘ahead of’ anything :joy:

I could have sworn in years past (I’ve slept since then), that people were able to apply for housing on the same day they received their 7 tabs but not official “whoop”. For the first round tho, this is not the case, but after it’s open, those that follow with 7 tabs can access Phase 1… not immediately, but same day or two.

Edited to add:
Just went back through last years thread… Howdy may not show official acceptance but if AIS does, then housing portal could be open. Saw that a few times on various threads.

Hi, has any of your students received an official acceptance yet? Is it official by receiving an email or letter by mail? Thank you.

Not that I have heard yet.

“Official Acceptance” = “Whoop! You’ve been admitted …” in big font when you log in, a letter (PDF file) in the My Documents section (or whatever it’s called), and a maroon banner sent to you via postal mail a few weeks later

“Unofficial Acceptance” = 7 tabs in Howdy (wink, wink, nod, nod … which Admissions office will deny that it means anything)

Would be a great Friday 13th to have acceptances start rolling out!

Still sitting at 7 tabs here but no whoop or official admittance yet!

A few in are reporting on FB that AIS still shows app under review but showing “whoop, you’ve been admitted” in Howdy portal. I think they are all the same major (not business or engineering) but not for sure.

Dumb question, but once they are officially admitted is it pretty obvious where the housing portal is to apply? Or do they have dig around in Howdy to find it?

It is under the applicant tab of the Howdy Portal at the very bottom of the page.

Could I have some opinions please? Daughter applied to TAMU for engineering in early August. She just got her August SAT score of 1390 and is disappointed -she was hoping for over 1400. She is homeschooled, has course rigor and a 4.0 UW GPA. TAMU assigned her top 1/4 ranking. She has good EC and volunteering. Should she re-take the SAT in October trying for a higher score? or is the 1390 potentially good enough to be admitted to engineering? We are aware that all engineering is holistic and are aware of the ETAM process as well. We appreciate any guidance.

Breakdown of the score between math and verbal? What math and physics will she have taken in HS?

She’s taking Calculus this year and Physics 2. Her math was 680 (she primarily missed the easy Algebra questions not the Trig) and her verbal was 710.

In the old days she would’ve been auto admit with those scores and top quarter but @FriscoDad knows current engineering admit deets.

Based on others I have known & seen that have been admitted to top tier engineering schools, a 680 seems low. I would suggest taking it again.

I would definitely have her take it again.
What is her ACT score?
