Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

If we have to register for them can you tell me what info we need to get other than their login info. does it involve any verification codes going to their phones for example?

I watched my daughter log into the housing portal for the first time last night, and it did require her to set up 2-factor authentication (Windows fingerprint, Duo Mobile app, or text message code).

My son is auto-admit, and we submitted his application on August 12, except for his official transcript. The high school didn’t have official transcripts ready until September 3, (and they won’t provide us with an official copy - they have to send it). Through Xello we made the request to the counselor, and probably on the 5th or 6th the counselor uploaded the official transcript to Xello/Common App. On September 7 other schools he applied to (like Oklahoma and Oklahoma State) showed that they had received it. Five days later, we still don’t have the green check mark, and an inquiry through AIS came back that they still don’t have it. Is this long of a wait normal, or are we doing it wrong?

@christyf44 , if your son did the same process in Xello, and the other colleges received his transcript fine, then I doubt you’re doing it “wrong” with A&M.

I don’t know if you saw our similar issue with my daughter’s transcript back in post #616, but ours never made it over via SchooLinks/Common App. We had to rethink our definition of “official” transcript, upload the PDF ourselves, and it was accepted after one business day.

Do you have a PDF of the transcript (what you used for the SRAR)? Admissions literally told us to upload it because it was faster.

For everyone getting ready for the housing application tomorrow and reading the ResLife web pages to learn about Phase 1, etc., I noticed that they made some recent updates to the website and some links don’t work properly.

Specifically, if you go to the “Academic Year Application Process” page and click on the “Phase 1” video, you can’t watch it because they set it to “Private”!

After searching on YouTube, I was able to find the “How to Apply” videos (Phases 1-4) that will play:

My daughter did housing deposit in 2018, so it’s been awhile.
It is a 2 step process-requires sending an email to the parent to digitally sign-and $75 non refundable cc payment. Not sure about needing DuoMobile thing ?

Have ResLife phone number handy, and don’t be afraid to call, if you can’t log in. Also have website open and be sure you have joined Aggie Moms & Dad’s of Current Students page-there will be chatter.

Guarantee the site will crash…mark my words!

make sure you don’t stop the process until she gets a notice “next step is phase 2”…that’s when deposit is successful!

To be clear, 2-factor authentication is required for security purposes. Duo Mobile is just one of four ways to authenticate. You can set up just 1 or up to 4 methods. I listed 3 ways (I forgot what the 4th was). The most basic way is they’d text a verification code to your student’s phone (which expires in a short amount of time).

Don’t forget: UIN is required to apply too. Take a look at the sample housing contract if you haven’t already (downloadable 4-page PDF).

After watching the “new” housing application videos, I think they’re less helpful than in years past.

When we applied three years ago, they had this video (that’s still up on YouTube) which actually shows several screens inside the application. I don’t know if the application system has changed since then, but you can watch it get a glimpse of what it might look like (or at least the types of info you’ll need to supply).

If your counselor is willing to upload the transcript directly to AIS then you can use the “request materials from the counselor” button in AIS. In my limited experience, anything you can get uploaded directly to AIS is best.

Thank you!

Y’all are the best!

Honestly, if it wasn’t for these groups (am in the 2029 Aggie group) we would have no clue that housing was opening tomorrow and that acceptances would likely come right before.

Me too! Exactly.

Ha, ha… I had no idea the first wave of admissions had gone out until I logged on here. Got my “Congratulations” but still in Engineering Review. I am joining the Corps so in no hurry to put down a housing deposit as I don’t get to pick my dorm.

Thanks, the transcript we have for the SRAR is specifically marked Unofficial, but we will go ahead and try it, thanks for the advice.

@christyf44 , on the Undergraduate Document Submission web page, scroll down to “High School Transcripts.” You’ll see two columns – “Before Graduation” and “After Graduation.”

Under “Before Graduation” you see “High School Transcripts can be submitted via” (with an option for AIS document upload). Under “After Graduation” you see “Official Final High School Transcripts can be submitted via” (emphasis theirs).

Note that the first column lacks the word “Official.” So, that first transcript doesn’t even need to be official!

If only we knew that instead of wasting weeks relying on our high school counselor and SchooLinks/Common App to no avail.

Yep, ResLife is having problems.

Housing app complete, whew!!

All good here as well, lots of little steps, but did not crash, thankfully!

Ugh, it keeps telling me that I don’t have access

Congrats to everyone who have been getting their official acceptances and able to log into the housing portal! :raised_hands:

We’re still anxiously waiting on holistic reviews to start phasing in. :crossed_fingers:

I don’t think I’ve seen anything mentioned about it, but how accurate or helpful are chancing/admissions calculators (like collegevine, etc) for Aggie hopefuls or other colleges overall?

Thoughts or experiences with admissions calculators vs actual results?

Thanks!
