Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

Definitely isn’t a good idea to log-in.
Parents should not be logging in.
Once students are enrolled at A&M (and assume other schools do something similar), parents can get a Parent Howdy Portal, which gives limited access, but just enough.

Good for you, @KRFleenor for allowing your young adult to take the lead. Nudging and nagging is absolutely understandable, and your role as a parent

Voted! Good luck!

Anyone heard of any acceptances of late particularly to engineering.

@SGTGold thank you for the Idea to go back to 2028 group in January…I just went down that rabbit hole reading all of it lol

So I have lots of questions and my apologies if I missed a post scrolling here.
I’m just going to ask and whomever has answers, assumptions, I’ll take what I can get to feed my obsession of trying to figure this all out!

Our school doesn’t rank unless top 10%, that said my son is roughly 13-14%.
AIS does note him 1st qtr
4.0 gpa. GT math/English, AP classes, NHS, 4yr Athlete, Community Service, Youth Group, PT job. Applied Test optional. Applied early November :face_with_peeking_eye:
Is 1st qtr a strong indication of Team Blinn possibility or not necessarily?

1st choice major is Construction Science
I have not noticed many comments on the forums regarding this particular major.
Is this a small department?

What’s done is done at this point, I just like reading the feedback and playing the ‘what if’ game!
Based on the info given above, would you think he may have a chance with team Blinn?

My son received yesterday another invite for Aggie Feb 8 Saturday open house yesterday. I know it is part of recruitment drive but it was the fourth such email in the past 45 days each with a different message wordings. This latest one was with a pitch saying “We want to see you as a part of our student body next fall, but sooner than that, we’d like to see you here on February 8” . Looks like decisions are about to be released soon. My son definitely wants to attend if we get a decision of direct admission to College Station in a week or two. Are there separate admitted students day just in case he is admitted in March/April. We are OOS and planning our visits to admitted colleges.

The 30,000ft view, reminder (that I think we all know but have understandably lost sight of going thru it) is SO APPRECIATED.

And I will say, I appreciate someone finally piping up and giving their coping skill strategies cough cough the occasional cocktail, because OH MY GAWD I was starting to think I was the only one. My son basically has said, “make a margarita and get on your support group page”…AND IM NOT THE ONE APPLYING FOR COLLEGE. why is he so chill?

Anyway, while there will be good news for some, and bad news for some, I’m a strong believer that these sort of big decisions were in the cards and part of The Plan from the beginning and its all of part of life and growth.

Wishing all of you and your children the best in the coming days weeks. And every acceptance, even if it isn’t for my kiddo, truly is worthy of celebration!

We got the exact same email and wording on the Aggieland Saturday email. It is just a blanket email that was sent out. I don’t think it is any indication of acceptance. I know several otheres received the same.

Randomly logged in the portal today and saw below message. Does it mean that direct option is closed now.

Texas A&M University receives more applications from high achieving, academically prepared applicants than we can accommodate in the freshman class. The admission limits on the College Station campus have been reached and very few additional offers of full admission will be made; however, in recognition of your academic and personal achievements, we would like to consider you for admission to one of the following Engineering Pathways:

*Option 1: [Engineering at Galveston]
Option 2: [Engineering at McAllen]
Option 3: [Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn]

PLEASE MAKE YOUR SELECTION BY MARCH 15. This is not an offer of admission, it is an offer to be considered for admission to one of the available options.

That is definitely a blanket email. My D25 received it and hasn’t applied there. I’m lingering on this board as I have an S22 that is there now.

I decided against it so I will keep bugging her to check or if she has checked! She will be sad when she isn’t living at home and me annoying her all the time. hahaha.

We got this today as well! If we select one of these options does that mean we are no longer considered for full admission and only the pathway?

Is your child applying for engineering? Wonder if others are receiving for other degrees?

yes engineering - cs

We got the same email. He will end up goi g to another university. No interest in McAllen nor Galveston nor the community college at blinn

TEAB and Galveston are great offers! TEAB is the Engineering version of Blinn TEAM-students can live on campus, have a sports pass, tuition is less and classes are smaller. It is considered full admission.

I understand not wanting McAllen or Galveston but Is the Engineering @ Blinn not the same as the Team Blinn co-enrollment for other majors?

**Edit: haha 52AG82 just answered my question to you!

A&M does not have ‘Admitted Students’ days.
NSC (New Student Conference) during the summer is the closest thing offered.

@avbansal & @PurpleSunset24 If your students received the 3 options message (McAllen, Galveston, Engineering at Blinn), that’s a pathway being offered.
Galveston and TEAB fill quickly, McAllen doesn’t.
Don’t linger, when spots are full…they’re full.

Yes engineering. We selected the Blinn option right away. So hopefully it works out!

I just noticed you said your son goes to Bama. My daughter has been admitted as well. She is waiting patiently for TAMU(first choice school, Dad/Aunt former students)she’s having a hard time considering Bama even though she loves everything about it. We need to submit our housing deposit soon. Any tips or advice? We are planning to attend Tide Days if we haven’t heard from TAMU by Feb. She is eligible for the OOS scholarship opportunities.
