Just voted!! Shared with my son and told him to pass it along as well!
Not my son. Still waiting
Great video, voted!
Congrats! Voted!
To be fair, there are more than 2003 posts in February…
This was 2024’s estimated timeline?
1/17 Team admissions
1/19 Engineering full admit
1/27 Gateway offers
1/27 3 option emails went out
Given the timeline from last year, do we expect one more round of full admits followed by Team, Gway by end of Jan? Seems like we missed a couple of cycles compared to last year - specifically one before Christmas break and one around the 2nd week of Jan.
Is there a parent Facebook page you would recommend??
Yes! Texas A&M Class of 2029 - Aggie Parents
Wow, I randomly check this out and feel summoned.
This was completely a support group for us. 1/27 (options) until admission in early March was a ridiculous grind. Really, really stressful month. Checking howdy every day (they say make your kid check it, but come on, I was on there all the time), false positives/negatives, everyone reading any tea leaf for anything. Planning backup school(s).
Stepping back, and looking past our individual stress, the hardest part was reading the unfair. While everyone loved to post their own (or their kids’) stats - and of course none of those are vetted - a bit of guilty feeling when you get good news and someone else doesn’t. My kid ended up getting the options and I know of another kid posting on here who had better test scores and class rank who applied to same major and got denied - no clue where she ended up. That actually stung personally. Talked about it with my kid even.
I’ll start hanging out here a little bit. The group gets you through it, but understand it’s completely out of your hands. You cannot change what happens next - you’re an active participant in a movie and don’t know how it ends, and the script is written.
By February, we resorted to light drinking and intense meme-ing. Read the 2028 thread in February, we lost our damned minds.
My only other advice, as if anything I just posted was advice. IF YOU GET OPTIONS, FOLLOW CHRISTI’S INSTRUCTIONS. It seemed counter intuitive, but we trusted…and our kid got Team Blinn instead of the backup. I’m certain we would’ve chosen differently without this forum. I credit Christi and the mods with a small but integral part to my daughter getting in - and by the way, she’s killing it.
I can join that Aggie Parent Facebook group even if you haven’t yet been admitted?
I have a top 13% kiddo that I’m wanting to stalk chatter about updates trickling in.
I clicked to join and they want my son’s first and last name.
I felt like he needed to be officially admitted for me to join??
Yes
That makes my heart so happy! And boy do I miss your sass and wit. Thanks for coming back. I know these parents will appreciate all of your insight and humor.
I’m on there and so are many other parents who are waiting. I joined a while back but I think it’s fine.
How are parents accessing their kids Howdy portals? I thought it wasn’t a good idea because the IP addresses being different can prompt login issues? Bugging my child every other minute to check and she gets very annoyed with me :-). I’d love to be able to just check it myself.
I’ve never checked and don’t even know the log in but for better or worse mine is breaking records checking poor kid is driving herself crazy!
LOL, we used the same login and password. I know it’s discouraged, but literally nothing bad happened to us.
I log into my kids’ portals all the time. No harm.
Two years ago my son got the email offering the three options on Jan 27. He chose TEAB and was offered TEAB on Feb 10th. By that time he had already decided he wanted to go to Alabama, where he will graduate a full year early and is having the time of his life. It’s good we saved so much money with him because we’ll need the leftover for my son at TAMU
Haha…bless her heart! Mine checks in the morning and evenings but always ask so that is what annoys her!
I’m going to try it - lol.
