Should we start seeing PSA soon?

I was wondering why we had to wait so long. I wonder if it was the TEAM only kids that picked Test Optional?

No clue. Possibly but not enough data to draw a solid conclusion on this.

A few of us were told they were offering more TEAM this week and next. Coud it be that that was bad info and it was only GW/PSA?

Not sure if it’s bad intel or not… could have meant for students who chose both team & waitlist are going to hear this week and next. PSA will start making a showing soon too. Someone said they saw denials, but no one on here has personally received one, so not sure that was accurate/semantics on what a denial is.

I saw people on Reddit talking about a second wave of Gateway last year, no? I haven’t been on the previous threads so I really don’t know, but I’m getting worried

Reddit is not always the most accurate source.
Hopefully you have other acceptances, or would be willing to go PSA route for a year (which can be a true blessing).
BUT, PSA doesn’t offer a pathway to Business…

Thank you, Depends upon how TAMU calculates GPA. Schools all seem to have their own formula. He has 12 Units College Classes, and 7-8 Honors/AP. I was just inquiring and didn’t realize you could look at profile for stats. Relatively new to this platform. Thanks for remembering.

TAMU won’t calculate GPA. They go off of what each school provides because that is how they are compared to their classmates. This is one reason why ranking is so important. Now if the school doesn’t rank then they use the information the school gives them to determine rank quartile, but to my knowledge, gpa isn’t calculated for freshman by TAMU.

Interesting. His school is a very rigorous College Prep school, they do not rank but he likely would have been in top 15%, TAMU put him in 2nd Quarter. He has a lot of EC’s/leadership/Service/Varsity sport. It’s a wait & see. Thank you.

TAMU will also look at the dual credit gpa, tho the high school and dc aren’t averaged in together. And Sr year grades don’t count. @Christi1993 is the expert, what she says is truth.

Your son sounds an amazing, hopefully he’s got some great options, if A&M doesn’t work out.
OOS, 2ndQ, test optional and applying in October are all big factors that are counting against your son.

Keep us posted!

Thank you. He has several acceptances in hand but, like all kids, they have their top choices. Applying in October is a negative because he hasn’t heard back? Many Thanks.

That’s crazy to me that it would be that big of difference on where he falls if the school did rank. You could always go to high school counselor to get the deets on what they provide to tamu for them to make that ranking decision. Maybe the info was wrong. 2nd quarter is tough. Is he test optional, did you say? If not then what was score.

Because A&M has rolling admissions, literally thousands applied August 1. October isn’t late to apply, but it’s 2 months after MANY…if that makes sense (with auto admit acceptances starting to go out in late August).

Unless very high stats, Office of Admissions timeline for holistic admit is always January-March.

My son was put in the second quarter too and it SHOCKED me. Non-ranking, super tough HS. So, no advice, but just wanted you to know that I feel your pain. You are not alone. TAMU / the SRAR obviously uses some type of proven methodology, but it does stink when it doesn’t result in the ranking you think your kid has earned. The whole holistic process at TAMU is maddening. And the waiting is torture. There really has to be a better way. Hang in there! Sounds like your son will land in a good spot, even if it is not TAMU.

Since PSA doesn’t offer a business route, I’d probably just go to one of the 2 other schools I’ve been accepted to (UTD or UH), which is why I’ve been holding out prayers for an alternative pathway :folded_hands: Really sucks since A&M has been my goal school and I thought I had the stats to at least get a pathway

Hi , can the experts here say when to expect full admissions . We went with the Waitlist option as we felt Blinn was not for us . 1st qtr , 1410 SAT , 3.8/4.83 , neuroscience major. Heard from other schools but want to get into TAMU . Waiting is so hard . Thx

Both UTD and UH are GREAT options!! You might get more $$ also vs A&M.

I am on the UH campus often, and drive by Bauer Business School. There’s some great stuff going on at UH… especially Men’s Basketball currently!

Two very different vibes & feels, between UH and UTD. Make sure you visit both, before making a decision.

Where does it “officially” say that a kid has been accepted? I’m so confused on this process! Is this picture below “official?” Should he go ahead and work through housing app steps?

I visited both! Lovely campuses each. I just was hoping I would end up going to a school where I all the hard work I’ve done in high school (studying for a dozen APs, scoring highly on ACT, placing well at competitions…) actually paid off.

Not that there’s anything wrong, but I just was really hoping A&M because I don’t wanna go somewhere where I didn’t need to try so hard to get in… especially being at a rigorous 6a school :smiling_face_with_tear:
