Refresh and I bet it turns to Gateway

Has anyone that chose “both Team & Waitlist” heard anything?

You are gateway ..it took awhile but it will refresh to say summer and then at some point it will say gateway …you cant do anything yet for housing …once it updates in ais with gateway you will be able to move forward and the email will tell you exactly what to do

Congrats!
AIS will change from the “App is in review” message to “you’ve been admitted” or something like that! Until then you can’t do anything with housing. Even after officially admitted it can take 24-48hrs for the housing portal to open up!

Thank you!! @aggiedentist96

And do you have to create a TAMU email before accessing “myhousing” portal? Our next steps tab when clicked on just has her register for NSC? But not how to setup email.

My son chose both and we have not heard back yet.

I have a random question after seeing all of these different, wonderful pathways of admission to TAMU. Do these admissions pathways count toward the admissions percentage or is it just the direct admits?

Thanks Rachel. I appreciate your reply so much. Are you still waiting to hear from TAMU as well?

@yeeyloo I feel your pain…I am so sorry :disappointed_face:
Did you apply to the Honors College at UH?

Wherever you land, I PROMISE your hard work will pay off! My daughter was top of her class at a large 6A suburban Houston school. Minus a class or two, she sailed thru Mays, only making 1 B.
The 4 years of 24/7 studying, course rigor & competitiveness of high school paid off. All of our neighbors have said the same thing.

Hang in there!

I will be submitting my application to the Honors College, yes! I’m finalizing it this week.

I know I will also sail through college. SO many people who’ve graduated from my high school, even those in 2nd, or even 3rd quarter, said the college they’ve gone to, both community or ivy league, was easier than the high school I attend. My high school over-prepares to an insane extent, and I’m sure A&M knows this. I’m sure they know how successful the kids from my school are on campus. That and my stats, are why I thought I would at least get a pathway :,) but oh, well, I guess. My freshman year grades from moving to the US did too much of a number, I suppose. For context, I do attend a large 6a school in suburban Houston. KatyISD to be exact.

My son was offered Blinn Team last week. He is torn between it and OU but now leaning towards A&M b/c of the Corps. Hurray!!

Honestly - I think his demonstrated commitment to the Corps may have been the reason he was offered Blinn Team. He did submit his SAT but it was a 1270 and I’m seeing lots of kids with better stats than his who are still waiting.

Crossing my fingers for your kid!!

I was going to guess KISD. Probably SLHS or OTHS, maybe CRHS.
You will SOAR in college!

Get those Honors College apps in!
One big pc of advice-ALWAYS submit things as soon as they open - FAFSA, dorm deposit, scholarship apps, etc - Never Wait.

SLHS actually! And yes, everything else has been in really quickly. Unfortunately I procrastinated on the honors app

CONGRATS!! Thanks so much for your kind words.
We received a Congratulations email today, it said he was admitted provisionally via Gateway, he is somewhat excited but now we need to read to find out exactly what that means (will need to read through this forum)… Thanks!

I apologize for my rant (this is my roman empire) As a Florida parent who is clearly on an A&M page as my child has decided to avoid the chaos of Florida admissions angst (and a lot of other great reasons to attend A&M) the angst and ultimate anger is the lack of a specified metric at all. The word holistic has transformed into a free-for-all of stressed out kids who are in 14 AP classes, taking the ACT/SAT 9 times, attempting to cure cancer by 18, etc. all for the HOPE they can get into a FL school (specifically UF or FSU). And yes, lower performing students are sometimes (and frequently) admitted over higher performers with no answer available to the student who is shocked and feeling defeated.

I say that as I have researched so many states rules on auto admissions from Standardized score metrics, to class rank, and GPA. There is a flaw in each of them but the goal is to give kids a fighting chance to know what the goal is. Even holistic has its flaws- as is witnessed in FL. Lets prepare our children and our students for success through multiple metrics and hope that they make a positive impact on the future and give them a chance to get a great education - in the best school for them.

Would anyone kindly take a moment of time to explain offer of GATEWAY and how a student gets chosen for that, how many Gateway offers are sent or a link to where it may be posted? Thanks so much in advance!!

Here is the link to Gateway Aggie Gateway to Success | Texas A&M University

It’s a great program. It is kind of like a provisional program where you come early to school take classes and if you get a 2.0 you are admitted into the fall. Historically gateway students do better than a lot of incoming freshman. They seem to do well being on campus 5 weeks early and learning the lay of the land. I have a friend who became a yell leader who was in gateway. It is a great program and we are excited our son got in!

Congratulations to your son! I read that only 350 are in gateway, is that correct? curious about the criteria. Thanks again.

Awesome! Gateway is the best!! Congrats!!
