Texas A&M Class of 2030 Official Thread

Hi everyone! I was wanting to know about my possible admission chances to A&M. I want to apply EA and am currently in the process of working on my application. I’m in-state at a very competitive public school in Dallas so unfortunately I am not ranked. My SAT score was 1400 but I retook it in August so I haven’t gotten results back yet. I want to apply as a psych major and my extracurricular are okay nothing too amazing. I do think I covered all the bases though with leadership positions and a lot of volunteering hours. What do you guys think my chances are? I am feeling anxious about the process so any help and advice would be very appreciated!

Just to clarify, My GPA on a weighted 5.0 scale is 5.3882/5. My unweighted on a 4.0 scale is 3.77/4. My school uses the weighted scale so I am not familiar with unweighted at all. I am pursuing a rigorous course load.

Howdy! We have no EA at Tamu for any majors. We have ED for Engineering only and even that is not your typical ED.

As for sat, that’s a good solid score. You said you’re not ranked… not at all? Tamu will rank you, if not, based on your schools demographics. I’d guess you’d be top 25%. And with that and your 1400 you have a great chance of full admit and at a minimum Blinn team. Do you have any Dual credit or AP? If so, what’s gpa of DC and any scores yet for AP classes?

You also need to apply asap. Sooner the better for holistic applicants.

This is the most quiet group I think we’ve ever had. If you guys need anything, this forum is a wealth of knowledge from all the folks that are currently or have gone through this process. @52AG82 and @FriscoDad give great insight on all the ins and outs.

Happy first game day weekend!

I apologize if this has already been asked and answered. My kids (auto admit) had all green checks in AIS on Monday, but still listed as “under review” today. Does anyone know about how long it takes to move from here to “admitted”? Or why there is a delay? Perhaps it is just the volume of applicants.

Who complained? LOL. My DD just received an email apologizing that A&M did not send her an acknowledgment of application until weeks after she submitted it. And assuring her that her application would be processed in the order received, based on when it was submitted.

This is my second to apply to A&M, so I was not super concerned. Plus, I have stalked the past couple of application years and understand the process. But, clearly, they received some heat.

Same for us - received the email today apologizing yet we received the acknowledgement email back on the 19th as that is how we got DD’s UIN…

I’ve only seen one person on here saying they were admitted already. Usually a mass group of autos goes out and there’s no missing it. Should be within a week or two. Just depends.

Has anyone else been officially admitted?

Mine has, to Mays (not officially).

I believe many of our profiles say admitted… we are waiting on the official acceptance. Someone has already been accepted?

I don’t think it was official. Housing portal definitely hasn’t opened.

My son’s application status is still Under Review for Engineering Major. Top 10%. Applied 8/1 on Common App.

Should be sometime in September.

This year EA engineering option is removed, admission will process auto-admit in rolling basis. There is still another engineering review process after admission.

My DD has all the green checks and her Howdy page has her listed as undergrad in Mays, but the status is still that the application is under review. So, I don’t count that as officially admitted. She is auto-admit

Yep! Same here:

Thank you for your application to Texas A&M University. It has come to our attention that your application acknowledgment email was not received in a timely manner, and you received no information about the delay in our communication. Please understand that our delayed communication will not affect the way in which your application is being processed.

Your application was received and loaded into our system and was logged with the date and time of submission. All applications are processed based on the date and time of their submission regardless of when acknowledgment emails are distributed to applicants.

I want to personally apologize for the confusion and any additional stress or concern it caused you. We value your application and your decision to make Texas A&M University one of your top choices. We have updated our process and applicant communications to ensure that such unexplained delays in communication do not happen in the future.

We truly appreciate your application and interest in Texas A&M University.

Gig 'em,

When should engineering applicants (auto and non) expect to hear back? My DS applied early thinking it was rolling.

This is our first time. What does the change in EA mean? Before the students had to wait after 10/15 to get an engineering major acceptance? And now the students will get the engineering major acceptance earlier based on how early the applications are submitted? Thank you.

Auto admit will be close to rolling. There are a few changes this year that delay the initial notification. Over half of auto-admit (~15K) students applied in August so the processing can be a little jammed. They will start rolling out auto admit soon moving them to engineering review (another process that may have some changes this year as well). But even under engineering review the housing portal should be opened.

For holistic, unless very close to auto-admit rank with high scores, most get decision between January and March so it is closer to batch processing.

EA used to call Early Action. If one applied on or before EA deadline of Oct15h, one would be guaranteed a “response” (which can be admission or deferred decision) by December 15th.

TAMU tests eliminating EA this year because guaranteeing a “response” add extra work and confusion to the process.
TAMU has ETAM, only NMSF or NMF can get their majors directly. The rest has to go through ETAM.
