Texas A&M Class of 2030 Official Thread

Don’t skip the scholarship section. Yes, it’s optional, but if you don’t fill it out, you’ll miss out on some great opportunities. With your stats, you might be a good candidate for the Brown Foundation Scholarship. Someone else will answer your question about when Engineering will fill up. My daughter is still in Engineering Review. I don’t think anyone has been admitted into engineering yet. Apply as soon as you can. LORs can be submitted later. They would want those if you’re picked as a potential Brown Scholarship candidate. Good luck!

Thanks. Her school does not rank but would be about top 15% based on quartiled listed on tbe school profile (we are out of state). She is interested in energy industry but doesnt really know. Something more on the quantitative side of business.

I would list Econ as 2nd choice major then.

Thanks for sharing so much valuable information for the newbie parents!

Can someone shed light about whether the anticipated mid-Sep TAMU admission notification is for auto-admit and in-state holistic applicants only? If yes, then when is the earliest notification date for holistic, OOS applicants with high grades and test scores? Worried about establishing Housing deposit priority date (not so much about the Engineering Review result).

September notifications have primarily been for auto admits, not any holistic. There are always some outliers, of course. As for OOS, I’m sure they’ll be routed right along with instate holistics, especially for high scoring.

Sounds good. Typically how long after auto-admits are holistic applicants notified?

It’ll be rolling admission but we tend to see it in waves. Mid October, a couple of times in Nov. and once in December. That’s rough based on prior years (and my memory). Others might have a better recollection.

autos will be rolling as they apply once the first round goes out.

I would expect earlier. My 28er was top 25% with a 1450 SAT (homeschooled) who applied on August 1st. He got his TAMU and engineering acceptances on the same day in late Sept. You never know year over year, but I’d be surprised if it changed that much.

ACT 31 is good, 33 will be more secure. If having Pre-calc only, there may be a chance of getting TEAB offer.

One can still take AP Calc BC self-pace. Just register the test in a nearby high school and take on-line classes. It is also a good time to review the ETAM requirement. Your student needs to be comfortable getting any major in sophomore year. If your student wants a particular major, ETAM can be very competitive and requires a lot of AP/IB preparation in high school.

For engineering should I put 2nd choice major as a different engineering field (1st choice was mechanical engineering) or can I put something like business at Mays for my 2nd choice.

DS got an email with the heading “Thank you for your interest to the Honors Academy!”.

The email is pretty generic.

We are excited to launch a new applicant portal just for our Honors Academy applicants. You will need to create an account to begin the application process. The applicant portal will also allow you to view your application status, and take action on required next steps.

Please note, this applicant portal is specific to the Texas A&M Honors Academy. Information about College and Departmental level Honors programs is available online at Honors Academy. Students may participate in one or more programs that are applicable to their major.

Thanks and Gig 'em!

>>>> Hope that they have started reviewing his app. We did indicate an interest in applying to Honors. Did others receive similar emails or is this just going out to everyone?

My DD received the same email. She also expressed interest in applying to Honors.

Thanks, is she auto-admit or holistic?

She’s auto-admit.

Mays may not consider second choice (and essay will be an issue). First choice any engineering is fine. Second choice can be any non-engineering STEM major. Both better be coherent with the essay. If your student is auto-admit, don’t overthink it.

My application has been under review since August 25th. I sent SAT scores through College Board but TAMU still has not received them. College board says the scores were sent on the 26th. I “inquired” about it and they told me that no scores have been received and to expect a 2-3 week wait from the time they were sent. The DI code is 6003 correct?

Also I took Calculus I at a community college over the summer. What’s the best way to let TAMU know that I’ve already taken it, especially if my school won’t offer a higher math?

You have to send your transcript from all schools.

Howdy! My son worked so hard this summer preparing for his Applications. He sent in his TAMU application on 8/1 so now we wait! He is holistic review from a non-ranking competitive HS in Austin. SAT is 1320 and GPA is 97.6 and he has a fair amount of work, extracurricular & volunteer experience that I think is a fit to major (Business). I could see the result going either way, so I’m just thinking about back up plans. If he’s offered Team Blinn, do any of those students end up in Mays? Is TAMU Galveston another pathway to Mays? Also, I heard a rumor that TAMU is trying to accept more out of state students this year? Can anyone confirm this? Thank you all for this thread and information! It sure is helpful!
