Texas A&M Class of 2030 Official Thread

My daughter got accepted. OOS. How soon do we need to get the housing deposit in to have a strong chance at on campus housing? A&M is in her top 5, but not necessarily #1.

Congrats! Pay ASAP, as soon as the Housing link opens for her. Dorm selection is based on time stamp Housing deposit is paid-$75 non-refundable. It’s a 2 step process…don’t stop until she gets the message “next step is phase 2” (something like that).

Thanks! Yeah probably not the time to be cheap. I was just hoping not to pay another $75 until she narrows down her choices more.

Got the “big” envelope in the mail! Yay!

Not enough housing at TAMU. Especially if she’s OOS, I’d want her living ON campus as a freshman. I hear ya on the added fees, but I’d pay it to be safe (housing will be full soon).

Definitely recommend sending it in now. It’s $75 that could save a lot of $$$ and heartache later.

Just want to clarify for my own sanity, by big envelope, do you mean business honors?

Oh. No, just the official acceptance to TAMU envelope.

I’ve been wondering when the first round of acceptances to BH would be going out this year.

Just to clarify:

S only received an email from Business Honors that they received his app on October 15. No word on decision yet from BH. We know it will be snail mail either way.

Applied August 1, top 2%, NM commended, mid 1500s sat, ECs, etc

Big envelope was mentioned way earlier in the thread as notification of getting BH so that is what prompted that question.

Great stats! I’d love to hear when acceptances start coming in. I probably made a “big envelope” reference earlier. My son is a BH’er. At least a few years ago, that is how they informed you.

Does having the sport pass tab in howdy mean anything?

I’d love to get your thoughts on the PPA. My daughter wants to do accounting and a few people have recommended it. My sister is a CPA and started at Deloitte, but did not do the PPA and she’s been very successful. Of course, she doesn’t think it’s necessary. At least as of now, my daughter wants to get through school, work at a Big 4 firm and travel all over! I have a good friend at EY who has talked to her and told her she should do accounting and go the tax route, grind for a few years, ‘and then she can write her ticket.’ What are your thoughts?

Wondering the same. Noticed it this morning. Quite a few people on Reddit are reporting having it too

Have there been many holistic review decisions released? My daughter applied as a Kinesiology major on 8/1. She is just outside the top 10% at her school and anxious to hear. I know it may not be until the spring, just curious what people are hearing

The vast majority I’ve seen (on various platforms) are holistic acceptances for Mays, engineering, and NMSFs.

Just received the big envelope in the mail today! Very happy for my son. Non auto. Biomedical Science. Almost top 10%. ACT 35, 18 AP.

If you want to be a CPA and do Big 4, PPA is absolutely far and away the way to do it. You need 150 hours to sit for the CPA exam anyway, so she will need the extra hours regardless. That became the rule in Texas in 1998, possibly after your sister was able to sit for it. The structure of the PPA brings in the Big 4 firms to recruit, builds in the Big 4 internship, which then sets up for the full time offer.

Any recent updates for holistic ECON majors?

My son is 10.5% on his class rank at a large TX public school of 950 students and still hasn’t heard anything at all. He applied TO with first choice Mays and second ECON, but did confirm with admissions department that Mays was full back in late October.

Also, what happens if he hasn’t heard back by mid term in January and moves into top 10%?

Rank change doesn’t factor, it’s based on end of junior year rank. If he has updated test scores, those could be sent in-by December 1.
