My son did too! So exciting!
That’s so cool!
Congratulations
My daughter got the invitation for Mays Business Honors yesterday
My daughter listed Psychology as her first choice major and then kinesiology as her second choice. She plans on going to Occupational Therapy School and has been told that kinesiology is probably a better fit for prerequisites than psychology. She would like to switch her order on her application. She’s just out of the top 10%, so she is still waiting on the holistic review. Will switching at this point hold up her application or change her chances of admission? Is one of those majors more likely to receive admission than the other? Thanks!
Easier to change major post acceptance at this point. Assuming she hears before the new year, She can request a change of major. Psych fills up quickly and depending on which kinesiology major she wants, it’ll depend on spots left. Your best bet, IMO, is to wait. Especially if high ranking and high scoring.. IF low scores or test optional, you most likely won’t hear til Jan/Feb. In that case, contact admissions to see their thoughts/advice.
such a great honor! Congrats to your son for the recognition.
Venting. I know this sounds dumb… but I really did not expect psychology to be so competitive. My daughter applied with solid stats. I am glad that there are so many competitive kids and am so so so happy for everyone who received their acceptances… but I am like… come on, let my kid in, too. Lol.
It’s really sounding like very few holistics outside of Mays or Engineering have heard anything (unless they’re NMSF). Lots of frustrated people on every social media platform from what I’ve seen. Add us to that pile too lol.
I totally get the frustration. And remember it’s not about being competitive for Psychology or other majors, it’s about the popularity of people wanting that major. The competitiveness comes from getting into TAMU in general.
Also, it may help if those frustrated, go thru the last couple of threads for 2028 and 2029. You’ll see this is nothing new. Tamu says most holistic will find out in January and February. They do not hide this but try to set the expectation. I know it’s hard but trust me when I say it will work out. It may not work out the exact pathway we want, but it will work out if they want to graduate from TAMU and get that bling!
Hang in there. You aren’t alone.
I had to remind my son and many friends about this. As hard as it was to find out in January for our daughter a couple of years ago, I have way less anxiety this year because I just know we won’t know until after the holidays. It super sucks but helps to not spend the time checking every day and always keep the faith! Also thankful we can pass the time with our 10-0 football team this year!
Excited to share my son got in Eng today! OOS/Holistic/not NMSF
Thanks to all in this thread for the tips. On the 2,764th time checking the Howdy portal, it finally flipped to 7 tabs!
Congrats. Would you mind sharing his stats?
Date of application
Gpa
Rank
Scores
Anything extra that sets him apart.. etc.
Thank you! And, Welcome to Aggieland!
Thank you for your words of encouragement!
Thank you! Super appreciate the sanity you bring to all of us during this process! He applied 8/29. 35 ACT/220 NMSQT score (which didn’t meet NMSF in Illinois) We attend a private school with no GPA/Rank. Stars assigned him 2nd quartile, which surprised me. However, he has strong rigor (AP Chem, AP Mech, AP E&M, Calc 1, Calc 2, and currently in Calc 3/Multivariable, etc) Strong EC’s, (engineering internship/multiple leadership) and strong recs. Setting him apart… he’s also Exec Board for our Model UN team and (on travels with a national club MUN team) and very involved in his school’s foreign exchange programs.
Sounds like an outstanding young man. He will do well at Tamu. Love the model UN component. The ACT score definitely helped set him apart for being admitted early.
Hope he loves TAMU and thrives.
We had 7 tabs this morning. Holistic. Engineering
New poster here, long time lurker.
My DS just got accepted to A&M engineering (in-state, holistic, 32 ACT, 3.99 GPA, advanced math & science courses (Calc II, Physics II, Chem II, etc.), private school, 4 year varsity athlete, 4 year service organization leadership). Applied in September.
Was not expecting a yes this early in the process. Is A&M a school that you have to get onto housing quickly or do have time?
Thanks y’all!
Whoop! Congrats!
There is definitely a housing shortage…pay the $75 non-refundable deposit AS SOON AS the link allows her to! Housing selection starts in April, and it’s based on TIME STAMP housing deposit paid!
*deposit is a 2 step process, don’t stop until she gets the message “next step is phase 2” (something like that.
