Texas A&M Class of 2030 Official Thread

I was here 3 years ago for my son and it seems like it was much more active!

3.6, first quarter, AP, DC classes, has demonstrated interest through high school electives, graphic design, interior design, architecture classes, art history, painting/drawing, various honor societies, leadership positions, part time job, etc went test optional, score was okay but slightly below the average, has a visual disability and college board accommodations but does not do well on long format tests. Hoping my child appears well rounded, fingers crossed!

Is there any estimate of how many engineering students are auto-admit vs. holistic? We are anxiously awaiting info on our holistic engineering applicant…we aren’t stressed like we were for an older sibling who was hoping for Mays holistic a few years ago (she was admitted for AgBusiness and transferred to Mays later), but are preparing to not know until after the new year.

Outside top 10% (low teens), numerous APs, 1400 SAT, Eagle Scout, unique experiences in ag/FFA…hoping for mechanical engineering.

Google TAMU applied admitted enrolled.

You can filter the data by multiple criteria undergraduate/graduate, college/major, top 10%/not Top 10%, Ftic, male/female, etc…

Do those numbers include Blinn Team?

Where did they rank her?

I believe these are only for full time main campus acceptance. Engineering has so many options like Blinn TEAB, Galveston, and other academies. For those who are bubble candidates for engineering, you are most likely going to hear back at the end of January. At that time you may receive an offer for options or straight admissions.

Hang in there.

Sounds like a solid candidate for TAMU and Engineering assuming course rigor is demonstrated on transcript.

That actually makes me feel much better! We’d love TEAM as an option because it saves money and gives her the smaller class size for the weed-out classes. She’s already in at Galveston so we have a path to CStat no matter what, but I know she’d like the luxury of getting to choose her path.

ami5703 - did your student take Calc B/C?

At my daughter’s high school last year, all the students who applied to engineering who took Calc B/C (and Physics C) were offered admission to the main campus. All the applicants who only took Calc A/B were offered TEAB.

Not sure how Physics C plays into the equation.

All of these students had excellent extracurriculars and good to extremely high SAT scores.

It seems like most of the students applying to TAMU “go to extremely competitive high schools and have excellent extracurriculars.” Therefore, I think TAMU looks at school attended, rigor and test scores since there are so many excellent candidates.

Best of luck to your child!!

No Calc B/C. He took AP Precal as a Junior and is in AP Calc A/B right now. He did AP Physics 1 last year and is in AP Physics 2 now.

IMO - he has a good shot at TEAB. Remember TEAB is full acceptance!

Silly question, but does anyone have an estimate of move-in dates if they do get into on campus housing? We are looking at an event in August as a Christmas gift and don’t want it to interfere with possible move-in dates.

Most are the full week before classes begin on that weekend. White Creek, I believe, is a tad earlier than that.

Also remember there is Fish Camp and or Impact prior in late July/early August.

Well, this wait is brutal. My older son had most of his acceptances by now in 2022 so my current senior was expecting/hopeful that he would know by now too. On Friday, he is graduating with his associate of science degree, and we were wanting to decorate his cap with some Aggie designs since his college allows cap decorations, but his high school does not. Instead, it will say “17 and a degree”. That’s fun but not what we wanted.

BTW - Have any holistic animal science students heard anything yet? Thanks!

Congrats on the Assoc degree. That’s amazing. And why not put Aggie stuff on it? It’s speaking it into fruition!

I haven’t heard of any ansci kiddos. I think there will be one more round this month and then not until 3rd or 4th week of January.

Please keep me posted. He isn’t a candidate for Blinn team so I think that is in his favor assuming scores and gpa are good.

His gpa is good 3.9/4.9 (ranked ~top 13% but our school doesn’t rank after top ten) SAT is middle range for animal science and is he weak link, but he submitted. He has lots of volunteer hours with a non-profit animal rescue and NOMV and has worked at a vet clinic for over two years. Also band section leader and AP Scholar. He’s feeling hopeful but knows it’s definitely a hard target for him.

Sounds extremely well rounded. I’m very hopeful!!! Just breathe and enjoy the holidays. Easier said than done, I know.

Why wouldn’t that student be eligible for TEAM? Because of the associates or because of the major?
