Texas A&M Class of 2030 Official Thread

Hi! Does receiving an email from the Honors College saying they reviewing my daughter’s application imply anything? She is holistic and not yet admitted.

Wondering the same thing. My son got that email yesterday I think

I wouldn’t say it’s a bad sign but I also wouldn’t bet money on it. One would think it means you’re being accepted to tamu at least. Have not made a correlation before though, so time will tell (assuming yall report back).

Want to ask experienced folks who have followed how TAMU Housing assignment plays out in previous years. This will be of interest to every aspiring Aggie, whether admitted or waiting to be admitted in the new year.

I’ve read in another thread that joining certain Facebook groups can be very helpful to obtain day-by-day information as the room assignments take place. This helps those choosing later in the first week, or even the second week get a preview of what dorms have been exhausted, thus helping them focus their strategy and time on looking for viable/available dorms and room options. Please share any relevant information whether Facebook group related or anything else.

My DD will be Class of 2031, applying next year. DD should get NMSF which I think is officially announced in early September. Should we wait until getting official notice of NMSF, before submitting the application?

No! Definitely apply in the first week of August…to get 1st round acceptance for best housing selection!

They know you are a likely already, somehow. They will even invite you to a special visit over the summer, watch for it.

We are OOS…does that matter?

Oooo. I don’t know. My advice is to register for “Aggieland Saturday 2026” whether you can go or not. Then contact your admissions office for your part of the country, and let them know your state, your SI, and that you are extremely interested in the school. I think that should be enough to get you in the mailing list. But it never hurts to ask these kinds of questions directly to the school’s paid reps as things change all the time. This is just my opinion having an NM and 3 accepted to TAMU (Engineering and Mays, one graduate).

Thanks; stats are 1470 SAT (might re-take to try and exceed 1500), 4.3 weighted, will have 7+ AP’s and probably take math thru Calc III or Diff Eq’s next year. Our state’s National Merit qualifying index score has never been as high as his index number, so we feel pretty confident on that; we’re just wondering if having NMSF on his app is a gold star worth waiting for.

From my experience, that is well over the threshold without NMSF. If all stays the same (and it can change so stay updated and follow the admission socials). If are really interested, take this time to learn the ins and outs of applying to TAMU so you will be ready to send in app on Aug 1 or 2. will not lie, it was a meat grinder because my Aggie did EE, but there are a range of experiences. Very worth the work and sacrifices for the right student. Also, you are right, the higher SAT will get your student more options in general, very worth taking the time to study for it.

Thank you (his older brother is a Civ E and in the corps of cadets); this DD plans on industrial engineering. Being NMSF and skipping ETAM is a huge thing!

They have some kind of club just for industrial. She will do well.

So DD is OOS, today she indirectly learned she was admitted to “General Engineering” when she received an email inviting her to an engineering intro call . We were slightly confused since she is NMSF and we thought she would be admitted directly to Biomechanical Engineering which is her first choice. Is “General Engineering” ETAM? Happy to add more detail (stats, dates etc), or answer any questions. Thanks in advance for any insights!

Regardless, they all go in as general. BUT they will not have to go thru ETAM. They will get first choice. Just have to go through same classes as a freshman.

And congrats!!!

My son originally had General Engineering showing, but they changed it to his 1st choice of Engineering. You can email them to ask. NMSF can change their major up until their NSC. Congrats!

Really? Thats great. I didn’t think they would change it now, just a guarantee. Great to know. Thanks for sharing!!!

A&M highly recommends NM Scholars choose General Engineering to make sure they choose what they really want. They said at the end of the Freshman year the students will still be guaranteed their first choice.
