Can you please share any other details of what your advisor said? I was not there at the meeting, so I want to make sure my son did not misunderstand anything. Thank you.
Hi all! I’m not sure if this is the right place to post, since I’m not class of 2030, but I am applying to Mays Business as a transfer from community college for fall 2026:smiling_face:. I’m applying to the BUAD program (finance), have all completed courses done, 28 hours and a 4.0. I submitted an application on 1/1 but haven’t received any confirmation or AIS access email… I was wondering if anyone knew how the process works and if I have a good chance and all!
thanks!
Hey there. I will put this question in a new thread for transfer students.
Any clue when the January wave of acceptances usually starts?
3rd to last week of the month. AND possible to get the 3 options email during that time as well.
Mind you this is past cycle (several years of it) timelines. Can always throw us a curveball and do it earlier! Let’s hope!
Didn’t see a December “wave” or I missed it (I don’t mean banners received, but actual change in Howdy and AIS).
Anyone have any other intel on this? Please share!
I know Econ is not full, but is full admit still an option right now? It sounds like there are still spots? What are the 3 options right now? Blinn, PSA, and Gateway. Do the colleges have the all applications yet or is Admissions still holding them?
3 options are blinn team/full admit/both.
Haven’t heard anything about Econ, so thats good its still open.
Departments don’t look at the applications at all. It’s all done by admissions office.
Does anyone know if non-competitive majors (such as english or history) get offered Blinn Team or is that only for engineering/business/sciences?
Not all majors have guaranteed admittance from blinn team, but there are many majors that participate beyond the ones you mentioned with guaranteed admit once you meet requirements.
editing to say, that only Mays currently has guaranteed admission. Most majors will be a “guarantee” if you will, if you meet the basic change of major requirements for that major.
What happens to those kids who have chosen majors that do not offer Blinn Team? If they are less competitive, do those holistic applicants tend to get full admission offers?
No. You can get blinn team that doesn’t have your major. You just aren’t guaranteed your desired major. You’ll work with an advisor from both schools to get you where you need to be with a degree plan. Only Mays, at this time, has guaranteed pathway. I’ve attached the link for all things Blinn Team.

Most majors use the change of major requirements in order to transition into the major at tamu.
Thanks SO much for sharing this! I didn’t realize that Mays had a guaranteed pathway. Do you have any idea if most kids have success with this pathway? I saw that a 3.8 and two years in Team are needed. Thanks again for all of your insight!
It’s a high bar, IMO, but it’s doable. Not sure what percentage of TEAM Mays gets it.
However, I have heard of students going to Maritime business in Galveston and then changing to Mays as a change of major. They take a lot of the same classes as Mays students so it’s an easy way to compare student to student.
Thank you!
Did he need to be top 10% Any other criteria required?
We still have not heard back on decision for my DS. Applied in Sept, non auto admit, engineering. Anyone in same boat? We are losing hope
Don’t lose hope. You’ll probably get info by end of month.
Any new acceptances since January for any major?
Son applied 8/1 for Mays and then Econ with a 10.5% ranking out of 950 TO at a large highly ranked Houston HS and still nothing. He is now at 9.8% with midterm rankings with 42 DC hours at 4.0. Very frustrated at this point.
Wow. That’s so close. Ugh. Mays is full but im sure there are spots in econ. With 42 DC he won’t be eligible for Team. My guess is you will hear by end of month and receive full admit.
Did he submit test scores? And going to assume DC GPA is a 4.0 or cose to it?
And it is extremely frustrating. You aren’t alone. Hang in thete.
Correct TO and 4.0 college GPA.
