Hi, can you tell me where you find that? My son logged on just now and had applied on 8/1 at 11am. His says submitted currently. Thank you.

Go to menu at the top left and select “my colleges” and then you should see A&M updated.

This is my 3rd homeschooled ds to apply to TAMU. My 2nd ended up going to TAMU, but transferred to his dream school this year (class of ‘28 engineering). Both of my older boys had high SAT scores, 4.0 GPAs, and a few college classes. They were both assigned top 25% for their ranking which we were pleased with and admitted to engineering very early.

My third is similar except that he has a 3.96 GPA and a decent but not amazing SAT score (1310 one sitting). I was super excited (and a little surprised) when he was assigned top 25% for his class rank last week. Well, we went to check on his application today and it changed to top 10% and were directed to send his hs transcript to confirm!

Has anyone else seen a change in how they calculate rank for students without it? I am really surprised and am sort of waiting for them to change it back. He put Mays down as his first choice thinking he wouldn’t get it, but now we need to make sure that’s really what he wants!

Interesting. That is pretty low for top 10% designation for home school and typically not done so quickly. I pray it stays that way for you guys!

As you know by now since this is your 3rd homeschooler, they only use test scores and compare to current top 10% test scores.

Keep us posted and yes, please have him check out the majors. He can change after acceptance as well (to any major will open aside from a few like architecture and engineering.

I totally agree, Christi. I’m interested if there are others with non-ranked students on this board and what they are seeing. I will keep everyone updated! Thankfully, if he changes his major, it would just be to Chemistry.

My twins are homeschooled and our first to apply. Texas House Bill 1340(I think) required that the auto admit SAT/ACT scores be calculated differently beginning this year (I believe a mean score). So the threshold is lower to be considered top 10% ( 1290 for SAT rather than 1460). I am a bit nervous that somehow it won’t work out! So glad to hear it seems to be working for you all!

Thank you for explaining that! That makes a lot of sense. I’m surprised the threshold is that low. I wonder where they came up with that SAT number.

Found it! Thank you.

In accordance with Texas House Bill 3041, all public universities in Texas must assign rankings for the purpose of automatic admission to students who completed non-traditional schooling based on the median score on entrance exams of applicants from the previous admission cycle for those respective ranks. Texas A&M automatically admits all students in the top 10%. For applications for the 26/27 academic year, Texas resident students who completed non-traditional schooling will be ranked in the top 10% if they achieved a 28 on the ACT or a 1290 on the SAT.

Wow!! I knew the law had changed to be median instead of average and that they had to report the score. That is great! Where did you find the data?

Scroll down to top 10%

Has anyone that used Common App not received the A&M acknowledgement email yet? My son applied 8/1 on Common App, was downloaded on 8/18, but he still hasn’t received an acknowledgment email from A&M. I would’ve thought it might be a couple of days, but it seems like everyone has already gotten their email!
