Complete. It doesn’t say admitted. My understanding is the seven tabs comes first?
Correct.
I’m with you - this looks nothing like the old version with tabs back when my son applied. No tabs… I saw on a FB group that someone posted a picture saying when you see the additional “tuition/fees detail” button added in between the two payment buttons we see now, then that is clue of acceptance. I don’t know if this is true or not but the post included a picture.
Are the students supposed to upload their essay again on AIS?
Question on admissions–is it a general swipe at first? eg: If you are top 10%, you get in automatically, then they send your application to the the school of your choice? DD listed Mays as top choice. She will be an auto admit for top 10%. But it’s the SAT that is the concern. Her old scores are within the median, but not as high as she would like. She is taking it again tomorrow and that score will be back on September 5. But her old scores–which she didn’t intend to submit–are showing on her admission. She thinks the counselor accidentally submitted them and TAMU has already replied to her that once they are there, you can’t delete them. Will anyone at Mays be looking at this application before September 5–when the new (and hopefully higher) scores are in?
Only the admissions department looks at applications. Individual majors do not see anything.
As for Business honors or any other major honors, I’m not sure who makes that decision.
So to be candid… no. No one in mays sees that score. And that score doesn’t matter at all to get into Mays since auto admit and applied early.
We were told by a Mays admissions counselor that the university processes the applications first and accepts the auto-admit and then hands the application over to Mays for the business school to either accept or decline each application. So you will be accepted by the university as an auto-admit but you still need to be accepted by the business school or whatever major/school is on the application.
It’s been explained to me by various A&M folks in a similar way. They explained it like a doorway system. Auto admit gets you into A&M (first door), but not necessarily your top choice major/college (second door). The third door is Honors programs.
I was told this by Mays people as well, the different acceptance doors, part. But they told me they don’t get the applications themselves. That was 2 years ago.
Nope. That is not the case. Engineering is the only school that has a second review process and it’s still done by admissions. Also architecture but I’m not up to date with that college.
All students will be admitted to the university if auto admit. IF your major still has seats, you will be placed in that major. If not, it moves to your second choice major. If that major is full, they give you a list of majors to choose from that are still open. This is the same for holistic students. And mainly for them because popular maajors fill quickly, like Mays.
Again, this doesn’t apply to engineering.
Editing to add, some majors have further requirements but they are still reviewed for that by admissions office and not at the dept level.
We looked around all the buttons. Under the overview section, his has admitted Fall 2026-College Station. He’s auto admit.
So he’s been admitted already?
AIS says in review but the Howdy overview has admitted. Hoping AIS updates in the next few days!
Ok. So can you get a Howdy page before you’re admitted?
Where, exactly are seeing this on the Howdy portal? We do not have an “overview” section and that word is not even used when you search for the word within the portal…
Yes! Use the same credentials used for the AIS
Appreciate your perspective, however, we physically met with the program manager for the Mays Business School Undergraduate Program Office last month and she walked us through how admissions works for auto-admit applicants. What I previously posted is the information provided for the business school.
I sent in the official transcript when his portal asked for it after they assigned top ten. Top ten percenters have needed a transcript to verify since I’ve had kids applying (first was class of 2026). We’ve just never been in this boat before.
The transcript was checked off in the portal less than 48 hours after submissions. The banner asking to submit it is still there, but I’m notnworried about it since it is checked off.
We are all good! Counselor took care of it yesterday and transcript is now showing receipt in AIS. We don’t remember this step from my son’s application.
