Thank you! That’s what I was curious about is how housing would go.
Side question, but I figured there are several parents who have other Aggie children and may know. Any feedback on The Woodlands apt complex?
A friend is wondering - any holistic applicants with seven tabs yet?
We’re at 11 days waiting on A&M to process transcripts for ranking for homeschool (since they marked as received. it was uploaded in common app on 8/2)
Holistic will not hear back until the very earliest, September. They will get through the autoadmits who apply in August/September. There may be an outlier or two, but the earliest will probably be end of September, a smattering in October, more in mid November and then maybe another small round in Dec. After that, holistics will hear end of January - March. Emails will go out to some asking if they are interested in Team/Waitlist/Both at the end of January/early February. If select TEAM only, you hear back pretty quickly and so far 100% who select TEAM only get it. Those that choose waitlist or Both, have the possiblity of getting nothing but PSA.
This discussion will come up again in January. = )
To add to that…. Homeschool top 10 will begin hearing around Sept 11, (if this year is similar to last year.)
oh wow. We had seven tabs by now as a homeschool top 10 two years ago. It’s good to know the process has slowed that much.
Thanks for that info @Christi1993. Passing it on.
Wow! My friends that had Homeschool Top 10 2 years ago - neither were admitted until end of Sept for engineering. I wish it was as fast as your experience!!
Top 10 are already seeing the tabs. It’s actually been quick this year and last. Now official word is anyone’s guess.
Homeschool top 10? Or the public/private schoolers. I’ve only seen the traditional schoolers get tabs. I’m glad they’re moving so hopefully they can get to reviewing transcripts for rank ![]()
So sorry. I did mean reg school. The auto home school (for me) just came about last year so i never kept track. Thank you!!!
Does TAMU review the holistic apps in the order they were received? Trying to understand if a student knows they aren’t in the top 10%, is it still important to submit the app as soon as possible. Thank you.
It is always important to get things done early at tamu. They do timestamp basically the order of being received. I do not have the intel on how the process flows per se, but a holistic app rec’d in august will have it’s first review done before one received in September. Every app will get 2 reviews before a denial is given.
So let’s say Johnny is a bubble candidate and applied Aug 1st. He will get rereviewed but won’t be til after the new year. But Sally is a solid holistic candidate who applied in Sept. she gets her first review after Johnny but is accepted. She finds out her decision before him even tho applied after. If her desired major still has room available, she gets first choice.
Hope this helps. And to be clear, im working off prior cycles. At any time, Tamu can switch it up and throw us all for a loop.
I’m currently an 11th-grade student applying to colleges, including Texas A&M, UT Austin, UT Dallas, Purdue, Rutgers, UIUC, and others. My GPA is around a 3.1 weighted, and my school uses a 5.0 weighted scale. My ACT score is 22. My main extracurriculars include running my own PC-building business, for nearly 2 years with 400+ customers and a few employees, working at Cold Stone for 2+ years, serving as a youth flag football head referee for 4 years, and participating in competitive debate and DECA making ICDC. My honors include multiple Varsity Select Debate PF 1st-place finishes, Best Hardware Designer FTC robotics, and qualifying for DECA ICDC. I’ve also used profits from my PC business to raise $7,000 toward helping underprivileged students with college expenses. I’m currently working on my Common App and Texas A&M essays and would really appreciate advice on my overall college profile and chances.
sorry correction i just started my senior year
Im also trying to get into Mays business school for Finance
So first of all, you sound like a wonderful human! Any school will be luckyto have you.
Sadly, tamu and ut both rely heavily on rank, rigor and scores. Do you know what your rank is? Any dual credit or AP?
Holistically, your ECs, philantrophy, entrepreneurship and work ethic is crushing it. Write a really strong essay as to who and why you have done all those things.
Academcially is where you could run into the obstacles. The competition in this area is fierce and weighs heavier than all the rest. Mays could also be a stretch as it is mainly filled with top 10% who apply early.
Best advice i have is to get the application in asap. Early bird gets the worm.
Praying the review team sees you in all the wonderfulness.
Please come back and share your journey! Best of luck to you.
I’m a dual credit student and i’ve earned about 28 credit hours from ACC. I need someone to look over my essay and get some advice on it but I’m planning on applying this week and not delay anymore.
I’m not ranked only top 10% at my school have ranks. My school have around 600 students a I’m competing with a huge class. I was thinking maybe my essay and could help me a lot and I know the admissions have gotten way harder but I think I could be one of those holistic applicants.
these are the schools Im applying to in texas:
UT Austin
TEXAS A&M
UT Dallas
UTSA
University of Houston
do you think I’ll get Blinn or TEAM for A&M?
How are y’all passing the time while we wait? We are in the throws of football season here.. so that helps lol
