My daughter applied public health 1st choice and nutrition 2nd choice on 26th Aug. We completed the STAR linked as well (in the 1st quarter rank, holistic review), but did not receive any response yet. Website still says My App is Complete and in Review under My Apps Status tab. Is this normal? It’s been a while and we didn’t hear anything?

If I’m understanding, you haven’t completed Phase 1. Is that right? This is step 1. Selection isnt until May. Do not worry about the where yet. You have plenty of time for that but time stamp on when deposit is made matters the most and gives more options later.

Probably won’t hear til after December. The majority of holistics do not hear til then. If you are high scoring or something that sets you apart, then can hear before then. So yes, it is normal.

Hang in there!!

Thanks, yes she is in 17% rank and had lots of rigorous (AP) classes and good essays and rec letters. Hopefully she will hear before December. Fingers crossed.

Did she go test optional? If not, what was her highest same day score for ACT or SAT?

My oldest is in BH. If there are any admitted into the program “lower” test scores, the student has a lot of leadership experience, they’ve started businesses, or they have other excellent and stand-out ECs. Amazing group of students!

My daughter is accepted to Mays with SAT score of 1490. She took the Sep SAT and got a 1520. Should we send the updated score for Business Honors review or they just going to take earlier 1490 in to consideration.

Wow, that’s awesome! Honestly, I think the NMSF probably has her covered, but that amazing test score will also certainly support her application!

So the test scores are a big factor in selection?

Who can say for sure? My son has met fellow BH students with scores in the 1400s.

When I’ve been to events hosted by BH and they mention the achievements of the students in the room, they are all high achieving! SBPs, student gov, leadership experience, they’ve started businesses, sports champions/leadership, or they have other excellent and stand-out ECs.

I’m just saying the students with high scores likely get their attention first and then the rest of the student profile usually matches what they are looking for. Every single thing at TAMU is growing extremely more competitive yearly.

FWIW, my son was homeschooled and one of his childhood friends who was homeschooled got into BH last year as well.

Hey, random question — do you know if Brown Scholar is strictly engineering, or does business/Mays actually count? Their criteria says “including business” but I’m not sure if that’s real or just words. Any insider tea?

Oooh I’m so sorry. I don’t know anything about scholarships.

Anyone else on here to help out with this?!!

One of my friends daughter was offered Browns scholar for Mays, so I believe its applicable for Business majors too.

Curious to know if there is any application that needs to be submitted to be considered for Browns scholar. Are OOS students eligible to apply and what is the criteria.

From what I’ve seen, (because my son seems to meet criteria) applicants who qualify are tagged on their initial application for consideration, and then contacted to apply and/or interview. (I don’t know all specifics) Not every NMSF who plans to major in engineering or business will be invited to interview, and not every interviewee is awarded the scholarship. But it’s good to have on your radar and be thinking about the possibility.

Has anyone got holistic engineering acceptances? I know it is a bit early. But seeing some posts in social media. I also saw a post on how Texas A&M calculates its internal Top 10% rank and will start sending acceptances in early October? Is this true?
