I have a question. Both the CommonApp and the STARS require the students to state what courses they are taking during senior year. I know that many student complete and submit their applications to Texas A&M between August 1 and August 15. There is a lot of variation among high schools, but I think most high school seniors don’t know what heir senior classes are until after August 15, and even those that think they know may have an unexpected change to their schedule after August 15. What procedure are all of these people following if they are submitting their applications without knowing for sure their senior courses? Do they submit what they expect will be their courses and then later tell A&M if their courses are different? If so, what is the procedure for doing so? Or do they submit what they think will be their courses and not mention any differences if they are minor?

As long as the student is fulfilling the grad requirements, they don’t need to be updated. Their transcript after graduation will fill in any changes. Acceptance isn’t being based of senior year. Just looking at trajectory of course load and rigor.

How early do they need to apply for Engineering? Do think it makes a huge difference to submit by August 10th vs August 1st? I feel like it’s silly to think there is but seems like every year gets more and more apps so makes me question everything, lol

Agree! My husband heard at an Aggieland Saturday engineering event to get the application turned in by October 15. I’ve been here long enough to know better.

The 10th vs 1st will not make a difference. Definitely get it in before end of month tho.

@Christi1993 My daughter wants to retake the SAT on 8/22 (currently sitting at a 1350) and scores will be released on 9/4. Do you think it would be an issue to wait until 9/4 to submit her application? Or should she submit in early August with the 1350 and then resend her SAT score (assuming it’s higher) on 9/4? She is not applying to Business or Engineering.

Hi there. What quarter is she? And I would submit and then have the new scores sent in directly to them. They will update her application.

What major?

Non-ranking HS. Her sister applied 2 years ago with similar GPA and a 1370 and was top 25% (Blinn Team). Majors will be Psychology and Kinesiology (plans to apply to nursing).

Gotcha. I would still apply in august and submit new scores when they come out. Can’t hurt either way though. Good luck on the exam!

So if they send in updated scores after the application will they re-review the app and consider the updated scores or can it be too late if they’ve already reviewed the app? Mine is auto admit-but applying to engineering-and has a decent score to send but will be taking it again in August so think she will send in updated ones in case it could help

If they are auto and apply early with decent score and rigor, they will be fine.
