Texas Tech UMSI

@bm12345 Wow, it takes them that long to evaluate 50 candidates? My husband must have misheard them. Thank you!

My kid got a letter of recommendation from his volunteer coordinator at the hospital where he volunteers.

In my kid’s case, he has been doing year-round volunteer and have a lot of interaction with the volunteer coordinator.

How exactly are they evaluating applicants for UMSI? The interviewers had no papers on them and they were all conversational, so I’m not exactly sure what standard of measurement would be used to choose 8 out of 50 applicants. Really lost right now.

Texas tech UMSI notification came our yesterday evening. check yours.

got in?

Congrats! Did u apply to any others?

Thank You.

TTU/UMSI BSMD
UC Berkeley
UT Austin
UCSD

Going most likely for TTU/UMSI BSMD. Any thoughts on TTU/UMSI BSMD vs UC Berkeley?

Berkeley has bad grade deflation, I would take TTU. I am in a similar situation between USC and TAMU S2M, but ultimately Texas schools are much cheaper so you should probably take this offer!

UCB is know for grade deflation. What would you major in at UCB ? Integrative biology at UCB is very competitive.

I have offer from both TTU and TAMU on Med. didn’t got in UCB and UMKC.
planning to join UT Austin and go for MCAT to apply into better medical colleges. anyway with TT and TAMU it is going to take 8 years and my research says that these 2 colleges are pretty sub standard . They are primarily aiming to increase primary care in rural areas. I spoke to few existing students in my network and their honest feedback is that if you are very bright , you will not be able to shine in real world because you will not be challenged while going through the curriculum. If you just want to secure and don’t want to get challenged , than go for it.

@bm12345 are you s2m? Also, I have transfer credit for TAMU so I can matriculate earlier, making it a solid option for me. Also, TAMU has people matching into plastics and other good residencies, it’s not just primary care. I really want to attend USC or UF but cost of attendance at USC is high and grade deflation at UF can be bad.

Wonder why you apply all these programs if you wanted to do the traditional route?Applications are time consuming…
