Well, house is half clean, food prep is starting, Mastercard just got stolen and subsequently canceled, half of family is stuck in total angst-ville, and my only recourse is to rock out to Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers as I clean the bathroom and bake gluten-free brownies.

My husband’s debit information was stolen and someone took out $650 in Hondura 2 days ago. The bank is refunding the money back to us. I just had to be on the phone with the bank for half an hour.

It is very happy in our house right now. D2 is playing long forgotten piano because lack of time. D1 is in the kitchen with her dad, and I am waiting to pick up my brother and his family arriving at our airport in 2 hours. H said he just made the best homemade cranberry sauce ever. We have 15 people for dinner tomorrow.

It’s just H and I here tonight. kids and family will come by tomorrow. Luckily, my people know how to put all their stuff aside and enjoy family. So despite setbacks, am looking forward to dinner (only 10 here.)

I spent the morning on an unplanned trip to Manhattan, because my dopey son forgot the paperwork he needed in my car and then missed the train he needed to catch by the time I got back to him. What a zoo - I never drive into the city on weekdays. At least by the end of it all he understood that I had not been a mean Mom for telling him he needed to take the train in.

Just me for now. Mr PMK has been prepping all day and will be back late tonight. It’s too quiet. I enjoy the “night before” chaos. Of course, I should be careful what I wish for!

Both S1 and S2 are home, S2 with a new girlfriend who reminds me sooooo much of the old girlfriend. I made a nice dinner, we all played Bogle, and now we’re settling down for a long winter’s nap. Oh wait – wrong holiday.

Only the five of us tomorrow, after a long walk in the woods with the doggies.

Both S’s are here…love that. Made two pies this afternoon. We decided to have a Thanksgiving dessert preview and cut one after dinner tonight…yum.

It will be just the four of us tomorrow. Lots of cooking yet to do. I’m not the greatest cook but have decided not to stress over it. Long walk to follow.

Everything I touched today broke. I decided I’d better not turn on my oven and test my luck. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day. Then again, it’s been raining ice off and on all afternoon. Well, hopefully we’ll have power tomorrow!

well H is having a cluster headache. He used to get them often- but for about the past ten years they haven’t been bad. But recently ( since he started smoking again), he has been getting them- fairly often for the past month.

Oh!
and I made D2s bed with fresh flannel sheets but I had to move it to get them tucked in.
And found a small bottle of wine.
Empty.

Oh and it is supposed to snow more tomorrow.
and I don’t have my snow tires on.
but I am taking care of H- and he seems to be feeling a little better.
god I hate thanksgiving.

Sorry I read garland post at the top about her CC getting stolen and it started me off.
:o
I was just contacted by * my bank* because someone was using my # at POS transactions… in Europe!
they were uncharacteristic, like for speed boat rental & porn.
Ya’d think if I was * paying for it* I would at least go along.

Drove 6 hrs. round trip to pick S2 up from airport. We are all home and S1 has arrived. Overnight food is prepared and I fixed an array of nibblies for this evening. Veggie tray, individual mini pizzas, pigs in blankets and brownies. Something for everyone. Turkey is almost thawed in the fridge, all the other fixins are laid out on the counter ready to go. All I have to do before bed is to load the bread machine so it’s ready to go in the morning. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Both boys are here. SIL is here. I worked til 1 today, then came home to start getting ready for 21 (yup 21) ppl tomorrow. DH and DS1 and 2 run a 1/2 marathon tomorrow morning. We went to pick up the race numbers and then all went out to dinner. Something I ate didnt agree with me, so tonight’s plans didn’t quite go as expected. Then got an email from one person who was supposed to bring a vegetable dish that she is bringing a dessert instead. Did I mention my SIL came with 12 dozen cookies. Yes, 12 dozen cookies. There aren’t quite that many still here, as they keep jumping into our mouthes, but still… Also expecting pumpkin, pecan and several chocolate pies.

We have a LOT of desserts. Please, if you are anywhere in teh SE tomorrow night-- come on by for dessert!!

First kid’s birthday sans kid and tomorrow will be the first Thanksgiving without the kid. W and I will be eating leftover brisket and hanging wooden blinds. Oh, the joy of the holidays. ;)

It’s going on 11:00. For some reason I decided this afternoon to wash ALL the bedding in the guest room and DS’s room (mattress pads on up through coverlets) and the shower curtains. So, of course, now I’m still shepherding laundry. I guess that’s what comes from taking the day off work! I did all the cooking I intended to do today, except the pie crusts. That’s OK. I can fit that in tomorrow. I am tired! But the house is clean, I was only a little crabby, and it will be great to have our son home for a few days. I haven’t seen him since July.

jym, we must have eaten the same thing; my stomach and cooking aren’t working out tonight. We have 25 tomorrow, but my mother makes the big stuff and brings it to my house. She hates to set up and clean, I don’t cook anywhere near the level she doesn’t so it is a win-win for all!

My son comes in tomorrow and my daughter has been here since Saturday. Sent the dogs to day camp today so that they would be nice and tired tonight. Tables and chairs have to be set up tomorrow and tables set; can do it ahead as one dog is a big shedder and most of my guest do not like dog hair on there plates! I have Toy Story 3 ready for the little ones, although I am guessing most of the adult will also watch. Around 1:00am my husband and I will collapse into bed only to have the dogs want breakfast Friday morning around 7:00. Good thing they will both let us go back to sleep after they are fed.

that is hard curmudge.
But i remember how grown up and happy I felt to be making my own traditions when I was their age & I miss the kids.
Then it makes the holidays I do get to spend with them even * specialer*.

My D is out watching Harry Potter with friends. Everything is ready to go. Friends will be here tomorrow. I think I’ll turn in early today. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

We did thanksgiving today as my daughter is working tomorrow. She and her fiancee left about an hour ago, son left for work at 7pm - his last week working at the bar that has kept him in gas money the last 2 years. Tomorrow will be leftovers and no cooking for me. Relaxing and vegging out now. Enjoyed it, glad the cooking is over.

H will be smoking our turkey–it’s the best turkey I’ve EVER had & our extended family’s favorite! I bought our pumpkin pie at Costco & we’re having the dinner at my sister’s. Not sure what time we’re supposed to be there–guess I should ask. There will be about 30 of us. It’s potluck, so everyone is bringing a few things. Because hubby’s turkey is so amazing, we get a pass from having everyone squashed into our small home.
