Thanksgiving is ten days away - are you ready?

Yikes, it is early this year. I am not even close to being ready! Are you ready?

It is early. I don’t have to do too much to get ready for the day itself since I don’t host it but just bring dishes. But I am trying to complete a room painting project and I’ll be cutting it close!

It’s what is after Thanksgiving that his shocking and anxiety producing!

Not ready at all. It was going to just be me, Mr. Fang and Fang Jr., but in a weak moment today I invited five more people.

OMG. Is that correct, ten day? Agghhh.

NO.

NO. Too early! I have a lot still to do

This is the first time in a long time that I’m not hosting so I’m not stressed. All I have to do is bring a snack, the green bean casserole, wine and make two pies. Easy! And my girls will be home so I’m excited. It’s my favorite holiday. The one that comes after? Not so much.

Since we aren’t having our thanksgiving until December 23rd, yes I’m ready. =))

This is the first time hosting in our new apartment. Not looking forward to doing it all in a smaller kitchen with an oven whose idiosyncracies I’m still adjusting to. This will also be the first Thanksgiving I have to accommodate a vegetarian (my DIL). I’m sure everything will be fine, but I don’t feel like I’m ready at all.

Working 8 hours at double time. I’m thankful!

No one actually allows me to cook, and we go to friends’ house, but we will have both kids with us. My husband bakes a chocolate bourbon pecan pie and I make a cranberry jello salad (just boiling water required) to take. And wine, of course. I’m more stressed about having WildChild here for a week. Will be good to see him, but he’s a big presence…

Yes, we bought the turkey H wanted and it’s thawing in the fridge as it should.

With DH just out of the hospital, and family here in Sept for a wedding, we are thinking it’s just us for Turkey Day. It’s an interesting thought, and I’m not dreading it… but it won’t be our usual huge cook-fest.

“My husband bakes a chocolate bourbon pecan pie…”

I. am. melting.

I won’t be home from work until 7pm on Wednesday and will have 16-17 people here. Decided to splurge and will be picking up fully cooked feast from Whole Foods at 8:00am Thursday. Stress significantly reduced!

I managed to find s smallish turkey this weekend. I’m not totally ready, but I have a plan to be ready. The cans of cranberry sauce are in the fridge for D2, and all else will be forgiven.

I’m moving this Saturday. The rental I’m moving from is not packed and the house we are remodeling isn’t nearly ready. My only goal right now is to make it to Thanksgiving!

I moved 10 days before Christmas last year. I am sympathetic!

One year, we moved 4 days before Christmas. I do not recommend.

D1 and family is moving into new place outside of DC tomorrow. They are moving from Florida. The truck arrives the first day of SIL’s new job. I get to check off the inventory as it comes off the truck. Wednesday, I fly home. Sunday we leave for DC, so all of us can be together for Thanksgiving. The first time since before grandchildren. (13 of us). It will be crazy!!! I will have a few things done. We did name the turkey though. We just have to buy it.

For those who need it, Safeway sells a turkey that does NOT need thawing! You just pop it in the oven. It also comes with gravy and everything you need, all in one bag. The guy in front of me in line was praising it when he purchased it the other day. He said it was hard to find amd he Fely it was well worth it.

I think it was $2/lb for 12 pound ready to cook 12# turkey. They were relieved Safeway carried it again this year!
