<p>We are all heading to Chicago on Wednesday: H and I are driving in from Cincinnati, S1 and DIL and baby grandson are (hopefully) flying in from Boston, and S2 and his girlfriend and S3 all are (hopefully) flying in from DC. My family is generally laid back and go-with-the-flow, but we are all a bit worried about travel with the 8 month old baby. Even in perfect circumstances it’s quite an undertaking. The family really all wants to be together in Chicago because we have some older family members facing serious health challenges, and every time we get together it is a precious chance to make more memories.</p>
<p>I hadn’t been tracking the weather, or worried about it till I looked at this thread! Me and my husband are riding jumpseats that I am positive will make it into JFK on Wed, but my son’s gf is driving them from central PA to NYC Tuesday. I hope the storm waits awhile, I sure don’t like him driving in the snow!</p>

<p>Two daughters flying from Philadelphia to Minneapolis-Saint Paul on Wednesday. Forecast is rain in Philly, mostly sunny and cold in MSP. Should be no problem.</p>
<p>It’s not necessarily the weather at origin or destination, but rather where the plane is coming from. This is a big storm, that will affect much of east coast travel. It also has wind, which ads to the misery. </p>
<p>Good luck to all. Happy to be staying home, with only traveler is D1 driving 30 miles, which can wait until Thirsday morning is the traffic is ugly.</p>
<p>So far…the weather is fine here. We have friends who left for the west coast this morning via Charlotte. I believe their travel is fine. </p>

<p>I asked my son why he didn’t book JetBlue from Boston to FL, but Spirit, and now it could be painful lesson (&disappointing for me). JB flies every 2 hours, but only 1 5:30 pm flight with Spirit.</p>
<p>I am so looking forward to having son and SO here–first time in years–and now worried about weather and flights.</p>

<p>The weather is worrisome for many, including myself. As if travel for Thanksgiving wasn’t already a hassle! </p>
<p>I am driving from VT to NYC tomorrow, where one D lives and the other is flying there from San Francisco tomorrow night. The NYC D is in 8 performances a week (plus added ones over the holiday) and can’t leave to come home, and thus, Thanksgiving will be in NYC for us. </p>
<p>The weather report here in VT (where we already have snow on the ground) through early tomorrow morning is for snow, sleet, and freezing rain, which is really the worst kind. I’m leaving in the morning, and while that may have stopped by then, I imagine the roads in VT won’t be so great when I go on them (particularly winding through the mountains). Then, it is supposed to be pouring rain and high winds all day for the rest of my drive. And the traffic that is typical of this date! I hope I make it on time as I am seeing my D in her Off Broadway musical tomorrow night. Fingers crossed. And for everyone else too!</p>
<p>S came on Saturday - so beat all the thanksgiving traffic and this lousy weather. D however is supposed to come home tonight from Cleveland - we’ll see how that goes. Friends’ S is also expected home tonight from Pittsburgh. Keeping my fingers crossed for these two tonight!</p>

<p>DS is new to making his own flight plans, so he made BOS-EWR-CLT-LAX plans. OY! He could have taken the train from school in CT, and avoided the first leg. And a big increase in fare… Here’s hoping all of his flights get off the ground today :/</p>

<p>We are postponing travel from DC to Cleveland until Thanksgiving Day. National Weather Service plus relatives in Pittsburgh report deteriorating weather conditions. Snow accumulation is predicted anywhere between 6-12 inches in western PA-Buffalo-Cleveland corridor. There is poor visibility combined with snow and ice in the Allegheny mountains, making roads hazardous. Instead of traveling tomorrow, we will hunker down & have a nice dinner out, then we’ll hit the road early Thur morning (assuming road conditions have improved by then).</p>

<p>This is a good point, but I think we should still be OK on my daughters’ Philadelphia-Minneapolis/St. Paul flight. Weather expected to be relatively good on both ends–light rain in Philly, sunny and cold in MSP. They’re flying on Delta; MSP is a Delta hub, Philadelphia isn’t, and as best I can tell Delta usually flies into Philadelphia from MSP and then turns around and flies right back out to MSP using the same aircraft (at least every MSP-bound flight I’ve ever taken out of Philadelphia was on a plane that had just come from MSP). So as long as the weather holds on both ends, I’m thinking we should be OK.</p>
<p>I already know someone whose kid’s flight is delayed out of Boston for south Florida and it’s not even doing anything in Boston yet. A lot of it really can depend on where the flight originated.</p>
<p>My two kids are on the road for their 3 hour drives (not near as long as some of yours!) both left with some snow on the ground but we have not a drop here and so they will both be driving out of the storm (hopefully) after their first hour or so. Still doing my typical pacing. :)</p>
