The 2014 Grammys - did anyone watch the show?

My favorite was Radioactive. Really liked Pink and enjoyed seeing Paul and Ringo together.

I agree that Beyoncé can do her thing, whatever that may be, but I think it was irresponsible of the producers to open the show with that performance at 8:00pm. I have mad respect for Beyoncé as a performer, but I thing the timing of her performance was in poor taste. I am so over shock value in entertainment, especially by people who can actually sing!

During Katy Perry’s performance, I was honestly afraid that the brooms were going to snap off.

I thought Daft Punk’s performance was missing something… A white GSD!!!

<a href=“Watch Dog Sing Along to Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' - YouTube”>Watch Dog Sing Along to Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' - YouTube;

I suspect that most of the people who instantly downloaded and repetitively replayed Beyoncé’s performance were men, watching the booty dance with almost nothing covering her rear end, and the closeup shots of her private parts…muttering, “Oh, what talent, what talent!”

That’s a pretty funny video of the dog, bb!

Oh shoot - there’s no “funny” button for your post, BusDriver11. haha

I’m sure men did look at her performance and drool. Men are going to look. (Major props to Macklemore for keeping it together! :smiley: ) I’m equally sure women did, as well. Beyoncé is a beautiful woman. She’ll get attention wherever she goes.

Taylor thinking she won Best Album:

Pharrell’s hat receives its own Twitter!

I think the most moving part of the night for me was the exchanging of the wedding rings by 30+ couples during Macklemore and Lewis’ performance of ‘Same Love’. CNN interviewed one of the couples who got married last night and one of them shared that when he was eight years old, he’d made up his mind that, somehow, he was going to get Madonna to sing at his wedding; he got his wish. But they said another one of their highlights of the experience was, as they were walking out, they got to high-five both Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney!

Macklemore is a classy guy. Did you see the email he released today that he sent to Kendrick Lamar last night??? Read Macklemore’s Apology Text To Kendrick Lamar For Winning Best Rap Album Grammy;

Not a Taylor fan but actually MINUS the head banging thought her performance was pretty good. Her persistent dancing, not so much.

Fav of the night: Kendrick and Imagine Dragons.

You can say that again, @abasket. He is a classy, humble guy.

I wasn’t paying that much attention to Taylor’s performance so I completely missed the head banging. Now, thanks to TMZ for catching me up, my appreciation for her performance is lowered.

My music tastes are SO varied, I listen to everything. I prefer old school hip hop, but I like some of the new stuff, and I must say Kendrick killed it with Imagin Dragons! I really liked Chicago and Robin Thicke. Of course John Legend was flawless as usual, and Pink is one of my favs, I pretty much like all of her music. Beyonce was just too much. I have seen her in concert and she can actually sing. She is very talented, and is definitely on her game. Her new album is very ADULT, and I thought it was inappropriate. The funny thing is, this was one of the more tame songs from her new album, it is very racy to put it mildly

For fans of Macklemore. He attended the same high school as Sir-mix-a - lot. Btw, what is the difference between hip hop & rap?
<a href=“Who Is Macklemore? | Complex”>Who Is Macklemore? | Complex;

Emerald, the technical answer is that hip hop is more of a genre, and rap is a type of singing, hence the termrappers. However, most people use the terms interchangeably which is not correct.

Well, yes, I did watch, and I’m so happy to have the chance to snark!

Have to agree that Beyonce’s performance was completely inappropriate for an 8 pm show likely being watched by many families. It’s very nice that she likes to have sex with her husband, but I don’t need to hear about it or see her writhing. Meanwhile her voice got lost in all the production and nonsense.

I’ve been tired of Taylor Swift for years now, so yet another insipid break-up song (next time, don’t forget your scarf, mkay?), the hair tossing, the angry face at the end, were all incredibly tedious, and the amount of camera time she got dancing at her seat was ridiculous. Watching her and her entourage think, if just for a second, that she won album of the year was pretty fabulous, though. And I adored her dress. She’s always wears classy stuff, unlike that sleazy white monstrosity worn by Beyonce, who seems to be in some kind of fug competition with Kim Kardashian.

Adore Pink, she puts to shame every performer who claims they have to lip sync because they can’t dance and sing at the same time. Nate Ruess was horrible, and I’ve seen him live and know he can do so much better–gotta wonder what that was all about.

John Legend–perfection. Robin Thicke, proved he can’t sing. I feared one of the country oldies was going to expire right on the stage and figured that Blake Shelton was singing with them in case someone needed to be carried off mid-song.

I know it’s because I’m old and out of step and very, very. white, but I’m darned if I tell what makes Kendrick Lamar different from every other rapper who mumbles unintelligibly to a beat. But if folks all agree (even Macklemore) that he was robbed, I guess he was.

And I will close with Madonna. Oh, Madonna. Will someone please stage an intervention? I was embarrassed for her.

mommaj - this may make my post of the month club!! LOL :))

And I just read it to H and he’s cracking up (and he’s a huge Willie fan).

I’m surprised no one has mentioned one of the big winners, Lorde, and her Royals song. Her performance was great, such a contrast to Beyonce’s writhing. I liked her earnestness. Her song is fabulous.

MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN!

MommaJ! MommaJ! Your post was awesome. Yes. Yayus! Honest. Raw. Real opinons!I =D> will disagree with you and say I liked her dress on her (the one glimpse that I saw her in it after the "Same Love"performance).

You cracked me up! I, to this day, do not know what Kendrick Lamar said. I understood one word, “government”, but as to the rest…I don’t know…

When Madonna came out, I honestly wondered why she had a cane and why it felt like the entire world slowed down by a factor of 5. Madonna…what is up?

@partyof5, that’s it! I couldn’t think of what made Beyonce’s performance somewhat odd in this line up. It was “adult”. Her album is very adult. (Who really wants to hear a 13 year old asking a guy to “turn this cherry out”?)

Kendrick Lamar + Imagine Dragons was amazing.

Kendrick Lamar was robbed. I feel he is better than Macklemore, who I like but I’m starting to really get sick of him. Kendrick is a lyrical genius.
