The 27th President of the College of William and Mary

is President Reveley. (I’ll take full credit for predicting this in the spring)

previously Dean of the Law School… one of the 5 finalists for the job in 2005, when the spot was awarded to Gene Nichol.

Reveley has done a lot for this college in 6-7 short months. William and Mary is in good hands.

Glade to hear your endorsement, soccerguy! He certainly impressed us favorably during freshman move-in weekend. If he were an actor, he’s have had a career playing college presidents - he couldn’t look or sound more like one, anyway.

I still liked Gene.

Ignoring Reveley’s qualifications for a minute…

Didn’t the Board state last spring that they were “immediately” beginning the search for the new president?

Shakes head

Edit: Upon further reflection, initially they said they would look for someone right away. After a month or so, they said they were going to put that on hold for at least a year or so and let things settle down while Reveley manned the helm.

They found one?

A national search would take… 1 year to get names and narrow it down, and another year to do the finalists / bring them to campus (After Timmy J retired, the BOV brought the 5 finalists for the job to campus and had question and answer sessions open to any students who wanted to attend, and had comment cards for the students to fill out for each panelist). That’s two years more of Reveley anyway, and he has a 3 year deal.
