frazzled and consolation–
Our conversations were about similar issues, IIRC.

I’ve met several cc’ers IRL, and had 2 stay at my home. One did the kindest thing I could ever imagine and will be forever grateful. Still waiting to return the favor (and you know who you are). I’ve also had wonderful assistance from, and been happy to help, many cc’ers. I’ve virtually “met” many ccers and we’ve heled each other in many many ways. Great network here. I recall helping one cc’er reconnect with an old friend of hers from college. Her friend happened to transfer to my undergrad (and my year, I think). Anyway, I contacted her through our alumnae directory, told her her old friend (roommate?) was looking for her, and got them reconnected.

I should add that MaineLonghorn and I are acquainted with each other’s kids, at least from being on a team together, although WE have not actually spoken!

More weird factoids:
My friend’s aunt was Mae Questel (the voice of Betty Boop and Olive Oyl)

and Alan Menken ( Academy award winning writer of many scores for Disney – Little Mermaid, BEauty and the Beast, Alladin, etc)‘s father was my parents’ dentist

Buffalo Bob Smith (of Howdy Doody fame) owned (and ran-- we’d go in to say hi) the local liquor store and is brother Vic owned the kids shoe store across the street. Three guesses where many of the kids in the peanut gallery came from? My brother was in the peanut gallery but I was too young But we’d get Clarabelle the clown and Princess Summerfall Winterspring and Ticklefeather and others would always show up at our annual elementary school fair!

Re: Kissing Kevin Costner - lots of times…lol…but all platonically :)

When I was in college, my boyfriend attended another univ. He was in Kevin’s frat and I became a “little sis”. So, I got to know Kevin pretty well, went on ski trips with him, etc. The frat was very kissy/kissy…always kissed the little sis’s whenever they saw them…on the mouth. That’s what they did…(I’ve kissed many frat guys many, many times…lol).

When Kevin got married (the first time), I went to his wedding (I still have the invite in my college scrapbook…) Kevin was the first groom that I ever saw cry at his wedding. He cried when his bride Cindy walked down the aisle, he cried during the vows, etc. It was a Catholic wedding, so it was long with lots of crying. (Since then, I’ve seen other guys cry at their weddings, including my own H…lol).

I’ve also kissed a NFL quarterback! (that wasn’t platonic! )

Screen name: Used to collect baskets. Now I just use them. :)

CC’ers: Two, both at college visits in Arkansas and South Carolina. Who knows how many I pass by IRL?

Screen name - random name starting with M ( not my own )

Signed on here after my son’s first college visit the summer before his senior year of high school. I don’t post much, but I’ll be here for a while yet. S is a sophomore/ junior (now on the 5 year plan!) and my youngest D is turning 10.

I grew up in the metropolitan NY area. (NYC to NJ to western LI to eastern LI). Went to SUNY Stony Brook, changed majors 5 times and dropped out.

Moved to the Boston area (friends had moved up here) I ended up working in materials research, first as a technician, now in planning/management.

I used to be an avid cyclist, musical through high school until braces ruined my ombouchure. I like the outdoors, but don’t find much time to indulge. I feel like I am on a hamster wheel, or living the movie groundhog day at the moment. I do read a lot.

I do sew! Mostly quilts these days, not clothes. Would always rebel at any pattern and my clothes were kind of weird that I made. I have a big closet in the basement full of them.

I’ve moved around a ton, have lived on the West Coast, Southwest, Southeast, Midwest and now suburban Somerset County New Jersey. I’ve honesty been fond of every single place I’ve lived. I dislike any post that seems to pull regional bias.

I studied engineering back in the day because that’s what my dad and uncles and older brothers all did and I didn’t really understand you could study anything else. it was not the best fit. I worked out in CA in high tech for awhile. Then lived in a series of smaller college towns and had kids and picked up a master’s in stats and have carved out a career of sorts doing statistical programming/analysis for academic researchers, mostly remotely these days. I like to be able to work in my pajamas. I also like that I can pick and choose projects and go significant stretches not working thanks to a spouse who seems to love to work.

Can’t remember how I came upon CC. I go away for stretches, then come back. It’s really a fun place to vent and muse and compare notes about kids and parenting and life in general.

I am sure I saw you, Musicamusica! I was a second shift production supervisor in the early days of MTV … it was such a welcome addition to the tv line-up for a young adult with nothing to do in the wee hours of the morning after work.

Dancing in music videos. Why I hate YOUTUBE. My little 15 minutes of fame will not go away. (actually a congregate 64 seconds of fame) Little did I know that after someone picked me out at a nightclub with an offer of $50 bucks (CASH!!!) that I would live on YOUTUBE forever. Three years ago I went to a book signing of one of my fellow “dancers” who is now a relatively famous designer. When I playfully threatened to expose his dark dancing secret, the look of horror on his face was priceless.

The internet is very scary in that way–things that are posted to it develop their own life and can “live” forever, whether it is the desire of the person(s) featured or not! I try to be very careful and selective about what is posted by and about me, but things just live forever–good & bad!
