The Amazing Race 2025

Agree about the intersection. I don’t remember it at all.

I love when a cellar dweller has a redemption leg. I am really enjoying this year thus far. I like the 90-minute length.

Yes, I realize that but I would think if you are working on things, at least some high fives might be in order, lol.

Maybe they are just not PDA people - it just strikes me as noticeable along with his sometimes “I’m not satisfied” demeanor.

I do not remember ever seeing an intersection. The retired cop REALLY struggled with the drum challenge. I liked them but they deserved to go home. Luckily the pair they were paired up with was able to recover. The Sumo challenge was very fun. Still getting to know the teams. The Utah parents had a great leg.

ADDENDUM—one unsettling aspect of Race Across the World is that racers are encouraged to effectively hitchhike, begging for rides at gas stations. I wonder if that’s because the season we’re watching is in Canada, which the show runners deemed to be “safe”? There was one guy who offered one team a bed in his trailer, and he looked like the poster child for a creepy serial killer!!

The other season available on Britbox races through Japan–wonder if hitchhiking is encouraged there as well.

Reminds me of when TAR allowed teams to beg for money in third world countries, which was a bad look.

I think they said that racers had to hitchhike because there is so little mass transit available in western Canada outside the cities. I haven’t seen that much hitchhiking in the other seasons.

Another odd thing about Race Across the World is that they race for EIGHT WEEKS, and the winning pair gets only 20,000 pounds!!

Amazing Race and Survivor last about 3 weeks, and winner gets a cool million.

Origami large scale, whew, I would struggle.

I feel like this leg ds2 would kill. He played varsity soccer and loved origami as a kid.

I didn’t watch closely, because I’m watching this UT March Madness play-in game … How did A&J get the Express Pass? I really wanted the older couple to get it.

Both of the team members had to complete the soccer challenge to get the Express Pass.

Thanks. I thought the older couple was first, but I guess not. The way my team played I should’ve spent more time on TAR. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The husband completed the soccer challenge very quickly; I can’t remember if the wife even tried, but they decided it would be smarter if they left in first place but without the Fast Pass.

She did not.

Did they get a penalty for her not completing the task? I thought that both had to do it.

Only one had to complete it, but both had to complete it to get the Express Pass,

The challenge was a Roadblock plus a potential Express Pass. One isn’t obligated to attempt the Express Pass. So once one member of the team completes, they can move on without attempting the Express Pass.

Oh, geez. OK that makes sense. I saw him sail through it and went back to the game, because I assumed they finished it first and moved on. I was so surprised at the end when J&A had it.

So the last couple of teams that were really struggling with it … they just made a poor choice about which one of them should do this task?

I think there is usually some strategy involved in choosing who does it. They can’t have the same person do all of the challenges. Plus, once one person starts a challenge, they can’t switch to let the other person do it.

To be fair, the initial clue on a Roadblock is vague. “Who wants to try new things?” Only once they decide which person will do the task do they see the instructions. And you can’t switch teammates later. Plus they need to equalize the number each does over the race

But yeah, they chose wrong

I always wondered how much they know ahead of time. Like, if I were racing with ds2 and we knew that the task was soccer-related, it would make sense for him to do that. But, truthfully, that task wasn’t that difficult to me (mother of soccer and hacky sack players, and we played soccer volley in the driveway all summer long) so it would’ve been a good one for me to do so that he could do more physically challenging things.
