I agree that the wrong-way cab ride was a bummer . . . but the boys were already behind due to their misguided decision to take the subway. If they were a weak team that needed the advantage, maybe the gamble would have been worthwhile. But for a strong, competitive team, to deliberately separate themselves from the pack was a risk not worth taking. It was a stupid move, and they paid the price.
The subway decision and the cab driver were a good part of their downfall, but it was yet another episode with bunching. The boys had a two hour lead over Brooke and Scott to start the leg, but the bunching eliminated that immediately. Too bad.
I really hope that Brooke and Scott don’t win. That would be very disappointing.
I agree with dodgersmom. Matt and Redmond are such a strong team that they didn’t need that kind of Hail Mary move to separate themselves. As I said, I tuned in late – when they were in the cab – but by then they appeared to be well behind the others. I don’t think the wrong-way cab was the reason for their loss.
Well, color me shocked. . I never would have expected those two to win.
I wanted to learn that LoLo were an item.
Ugh! Not the result I wanted! Brooke and Scott ran a really great leg. Looking forward to next season!!
Could’ve lived with either of the other 2 teams winning, but not the result we got. I wonder how the mistake Tara and Joey made affected their time.
In hindsight I think that is why we always saw so much of them all season. I really liked Lolo but it seems like they never showed them.
Well, in any event Scott sure earned his half of the prize.
Brooke’s words on the finish line mat: “We shared something that most people never get to share.”
Well, speaking on behalf of “most people” who never got to share this experience with Brooke, I only have one thing to say:
[center]**Thank god!!!
My exact words last night @happy1 …“Scott certainly earned HIS half of the prize!”
I’m always happy for the winners, but I was really not happy that Brooke gets to take some of the prize.
Bring on next season!
I must say that pairing 2 strangers turned out to be a more entertaining season than I had anticipated. I expected it to be hokey, contrived, and lead to poor team cohesion. For the most part, it didn’t.
Disappointing result, for sure. Brooke annoyed me from the beginning but it seemed that Scott started behaving similarly towards the end. I guess he really had no choice but to fight fire with fire in order to get Brooke focused. I agree that Scott more than earned his portion of the prize. I would like to see a season of second and third place finishers who are looking for redemption.
For those who thought LoLo would end up a couple–I read this morning that Logan has actually been dating Sara (who was partnered with Shamir) since last October when they met up again at a cast reunion. Based on his instagram it seems pretty serious; they even bought a dog together!
:x
I can’t remember Shamir to know who Sara was! I’ll have to look that up. I too wondering if LoLo would turn into something more.
You know, I had a feeling a few episodes back that Brooke and Scott were going to win. That yes, the show really highlighted their relationship and Brooke’s impossible nature - because they would end up winning. I liked Scott alot. But I have to wonder if either of them really need the $$$. I felt they could be a little more excited.
It seemed like the other contestants got real excited when “Mom and Dad” ran in. They actually were the ones responsible for u-turning Seth and Olive - my original favorite couple - probably when they didn’t really need to u-turn them. But I forgave them and Mom and Dad were a favorite team of mine.
Had to be pretty weird for some of these couples to walk away from each other after the finale. They had an intense couple week relationship - wonder who will stay in touch after all is said and done.
Edited to say - OH YEAH SHAMIR AND SARA!!! Now I remember.
I’ve been travelling and finally got to catch up with the finale today. Very disappointed to see that Brooke and Scott won. She is, in my opinion, the most unlikeable contestant ever on this show. They did run a good leg, I have to admit that but still disappointing. Team LoLo seemed to have absolutely no sense of urgency in this leg.
For those of you who can get TAR Canada, it begins on July 4th!
Now that the show seems to be nearing the end of it’s life, I’m eagerly awaiting the tell-all book about how the whole shebang gets put together each season–when and how the routes are planned and the tasks and venues selected, how many employees it takes to make it all happen (and how they got such a cool job), what kind of negotiations (and payoffs) are required to get the cooperation of locals and government officials, what it’s like for a camera operator to be assigned to a particular team for weeks, what goes wrong that we don’t get to see, and of course the inside scoop on what some of our most and least favorite racers were really like. Given how long it takes me to plan a simple vacation, I find the whole notion of producing the show to be fascinating.
And speaking of least favorite racers, I have to say Brooke was the most undeserving winner I can remember. She demanded help from others at every task and seemed to have no useful skills of her own. She had zero support to offer Scott and in fact made every minute difficult for him as he had to constantly listen to her complaints and mollify her. He deserves the entire $1 million, plus a bonus for service above and beyond the call.
