The Amazing Race - season 29

I’m not surprised. I think this is the best season in a long time.

Nooooooooooooooo! Becca & Floyd were my “for the win” - it was so hard to see Floyd so unwell. I kept hoping there would be a pass for that, except I remembered the dad who tore his leg muscle during a season, which also put him and his son out. If TAR has a “past racers” episode, I’d bet we’ll see Becca & Floyd again -

I think Floyd should have turned around and checked to see if he was dropping stuff everytime he knocked over. Is there a rule that they cannot turn around and pick up stuff they dropped? If not, he killed himself needlessly.

I think all of America was sad to see them go - who wouldn’t be?!

I was hoping Brooke would be leaving. Scott can stay but Brooke, please leave!!!

I love the boys and I also really like Tara and Joey - I don’t mind the London team and they have got along well, but they seem to have just slid along through the season.

Someone told me yesterday that it was being discussed whether or not AR would be renewed for another season - I can’t imagine tv life without it! SO happy to hear it will be back. I was already disappointed to only get one season this year.

I too hope we will see Team fun in the future. I could see Becca in Survivor.

Probably an unpopular opinion but here goes – Brooke is the most entertaining racer this season. Her epic meltdowns are a wonder to behold and they have supplied the most belly-laughs of anyone by far. I love watching Scott’s patience and positivity erode week by week as he comes more and more unglued by dealing with her.

In contrast, Michael’s crappy childish behavior when things went sour was just unpleasant to watch. But Brooke high-pitched sobbing freakouts at the ladle task … the mannequins … the bike-riding … had me in stitches.

I liked Floyd from Team Fun and got a little scared for his health. That was a brutal elimination. Becca seems like she’s overdoing it with the Fun-o-meter and other schtick, trying to create a memorable character. It seems a little forced, unlike Floyd.

Tara and Joey lost me with the sanctimonious moral-superiority nonsense. Other teams are bad and mean for using the U-Turn, but of course they are always perfectly justified in doing the same thing. And Brooke is under no obligation to tell you the ladders were unavailable in the ladder task because – guess what? It a RACE and they are trying to beat you! They are getting way too whiny and oversensitive for my tastes.

I looked at my husband and said “Is there anyone in America other than Brooke’s family (and MAYBE Scott’s) that is rooting for her?”

@TempeMom Maybe Flo?

I don’t find anything about Brooke entertaining or funny. She’s a horrible individual and Scott is a saint to have to put up with her.

I’m sad to not have Becca and Floyd to cheer for any longer. They were such a joy to watch. I would love to see them on the next ‘all-star’ season, and I have no doubt that they’ll be invited.

It was a difficult leg and there really haven’t been too many of those this season. There also seems to be much more bunching this season than has occurred in several years. It puts the teams at the front of the pack at a disadvantage, which I don’t think is fair.

Maybe it’s morbid but I wish they had put in the info like “97 degrees, 85 percent humidity” or whatever.

I would like that, TempeMom.

Turned in late … what caused the guys to get so far behind?

Three teams took a cab, but the bro’s took the subway. A gamble that obviously didn’t pay off, trying to avoid traffic.

My two favorite teams out in two consecutive weeks :frowning:

Gotcha. I’m glad that it was a decision of their own making that did them in. Man, I would have been dead in the water on that gaming challenge.

SO BUMMED to see the boys go home!!

And then they got a cab driver that took them to the wrong university so they had to turn around and go back. :((

Considering how well Matt did with the video game compared to the others, had they not had the misguided cab driver, they might’ve beat Tara & Joey to the mat. They were certainly far from the first TAR team to be done in by a cab driver, but it stinks when that happens.

I felt so bad for Tara playing the video game. I probably would’ve been there longer than her if I had to do that.

Please don’t let Brooke and Scott win.

The subway decision did not do them in, it was the cab driver. It was confusing to me since they took the subway to the university exit, but then the cab ride seemed to take a long time (or maybe that was just the edit). It is unfortunate that the leg was so linear that there was so little chance to catch up (as Matt said) from an unlucky cab ride. It really shows that luck plays such a role in the game.

I have a feeling that what we are seeing of Brooke is not the sum total. The others seem to like her (even Scott) but laugh at her freak outs. She was pretty supportive of Scott. But clearly high strung and dramatic.

Mom and Pop have won numerous legs. They’ve been focused on their goal, but never intentionally unkind to anyone. I’m pulling for them.

Everyone says how great Becca and Floyd were, and I did enjoy Floyd very much, felt very badly for him as far as how the team was eliminated…but I thought Becca showed another side of her “fun o meter” earlier on when they lost their passports:

Watch from the 1 minute mark; in case people don’t want to click through, she says to Floyd, “You are an absolute idiot dude, zip your blankin’ fanny pack, are you kidding me?” She then corners him in the staircase they are running down and raises her hand at him like she’s going to hit him, “Ugh!”, before they both leave to call the taxi driver.

Obviously one can’t be expected to be positive the whole race, and everyone loses it at one time or another, but she seemed to be making such an effort to be “fun” all the time, and it was a moment where the mask slipped. My S and I were waiting for it to happen again, but as they had pretty successful legs, there was no reason for her to lose it. But from that moment, I kind of thought her “all positive, all fun” attitude was a bit of a put on.

She definitely looked very (understandably) frustrated and upset last episode when Floyd could not get the bike challenge correct, but I think she knew she couldn’t lose it or freak out on him given his obvious physical distress and inability to even walk straight.
