The Amazing Race!

Youdon’tsay - me too! Ha! The man drives me nuts. ; -)

I think Christina would be a great Racer if not saddled with her albatross of a father, who brings nothing to the proceedings.

I really like Christine. Yes, I think the father OBVIOUSLY is a hinder to her, but she has WAY MORE patience that I ever could.

It makes we wish I could go back to Sydney. The harbor cruise, the Opera House, the beaches, and the endless sunshine bring back fond memories.

I like the cowboys as they are usually one of the top teams but their start shows why they didn’t win last time.

Wow, tonight’s tasks looked hard… All the mud! That would get old really fast (between the cold and people throwing mud at you!). I was hoping the redheads would come in last, but Mike and Mel were definitely on their last legs. Christina’s dad is still driving me crazy! I like the guys who came in first. Looks like lots of meltdowns are coming next week.

Jam^ I agree w/ everything you said. When they were in the mud and the freezing water and water fall, it looked to be unbearably cold. Wonder if I could have made it through as well as they did. (I also like to rate how I think I would do in the missions. ha)

I was so glad when the red heads had to wait for the police to arrive, just wish it would have been longer.

Nice to hear that Christina is engaged and looking forward to a bright future

The “find something” tasks are always risky, and I was surprised that so many veteran teams hadn’t learned that lesson–anyone remember the season when a team spent hours and hours unrolling hay bales until Phil finally came to them in the dark of night to end their misery? I’ve learned lots of AR “musts” over years of watching–both team members must be strong swimmers, must drive a stick shift, must not be afraid of heights, must be able to read maps, must be even-tempered, must have strong stomachs and weak gag reflexes–and must have the will power to avoid all “find something” tasks, no matter how easy they sound. Unfortunately I fail on multiple counts, so won’t be hanging out with Phil anytime soon.

I was distracted during part of the show. How long were people digging in the mud? I always wondered when someone on one of these tasks would just say, Forget this, take the time penalty and move on … and how that would work for them.

MommaJ, I remember the hay bales. They’ve actually used that task twice on TAR. I was thinking of that when the Globetrotters chose the other tast tonight because the hay bales was a task in their previous appearance on TAR, if I’m not mistaken. They completed the hay bale task very quickly but maybe felt that they didn’t want to risk that again! The needle in a haystack tasks are best avoided. The other bad outcome I recall was the coffee bean search by the Gaghans in the family season.

Youdon’tsay, I believe the penalty for not completing a task is four hours. It’s always hard to accurately judge the timing on the show so I don’t know how long Mike and his dad were attempting to find the frog.

This is one of the few shows I regularly watch. Last night I could not believe how many teams fell for the take the plane that gets there 15 minutes earlier versus a non stop. Any CC Mom knows you always take the nonstop if it is available.
I think MommaJ has the list.
I like Mallory and her Dad. I also liked Mel and his Dad. I was sad to see them go.
I wonder how they picked the teams to race again. I would have liked to see the Home Shopping host gals again.

It would have been fun to see them again, but apparently Claire was/is pregnant and was unable to return.

Oh my gosh, I remember the hay bales… That was terrible. I probably would have gone with the mud task b/c I would have felt more productive actively looking for something - a perfect example of why I would be the worst contestant ever! ; -)

How exciting that Christina is engaged (and to another Race contestant - I don’t remember him at all though)! My mom loved the Home Shopping girls (I missed most of that season). I just remember one getting hit in the face with a watermelon…

To add to MommaJ’s list of essential strengths both team members should have - Must know when to go to travel agents as opposed to when to go straight to airports. Must be able to travel light and be well organized. Must be sharp at reading clues.

I can’t tell you how many times a team sabotaged their leg by misreading a clue. If I were in it I would read the clue over and over if something wasn’t meshing right.

I also love how they ask for “the first flight to blank” instead of “what flight gets us there the earliest?” And how do you not take a direct flight over a lay over - with 15 minutes difference!!!

Things are getting intense! Super intense!

The Goths had the WORST TIME EVER on this episode. Every time you turned around, they were making another mistake. Oh man, did it look rough. Who wants to bet that all the money and passports will be riding that gondola forever? Let’s hope not…

Christina’s dad… Oh my. Would you even be thinking about eating?? I would be so stressed out and in game mode that I wouldn’t even be thinking about grabbing a snack. Geez! Poor Zev looking for those animals.

The altitude looked like a killer too… made me a little queasy just watching them struggle.

Can’t wait for next week! Double U-Turn drama coming right up! ; -)

I’ve about had it with the Goths. All the drama, the crying, the meltdowns, ugh.
Can’t see how they will get the passports back unless maybe someone else found them on the gondola and turned them in.
Yes, Ron was funny last night wanting to stop and snack at every opportunity.
I felt sorry for Zev when he had so much trouble with the zodiac animal task. And then afterwards he kept apologizing. I was glad the Goths were behind him even though it turned out to be a non-elimiination leg.

Yes, the meltdowns are kind of coming out of nowhere. I have no idea how they got so messed up on the drive to the airport! They had hours and hours to get there… Not good! The other teams were pretty gleeful (and you would be, ha ha)!

The goth guy doesn’t annoy me as much as the goth girl. PULL IT TOGETHER WOMAN!

I don’t know, I think Christina is going to purposely lose her dad before this is all over with!

I wonder if there is more pressure on these pairs because they are supposively back for “unfinished business” - and , that many of them were considered top contenders.

I think Christina’s dad has ADD. She’s a sweetheart.

or else he just really loves to eat
