I think he’s just a miserable, and incredibly self-centered, person. I feel sorry for Christina. She should have done the race this time with her fiance instead.

Or loves to eat and has ADD. It’s like he sees something that looks good to eat and the big picture just flies out of his mind.

I can understand getting lost on roads where the signs are all in a foreign language that’s too difficult to figure out. But why didn’t they exit and find a business or a gas station and ask for help?

On nights that 60 minutes runs late, due to ball games and such, I hate how it makes Amazing Race run late nd throws all my other shows off for the evening…oh well!

Still hoping the red heads go home!

Yes!!!

I’m also glad they’re gone.

Also happy the redheads went home!! They were my least favorite team. I like everyone else…

So proud of the Cowboys and Mallory and her dad for beasting it into 1st and 2nd place! The dinosaur task looked SOOOO hard and SOOOO physical. I don’t know how everyone did it. I’m happy the Goths are safe - I think I probably would have lied about the time penalty too. What else can you do? I would have been too afraid everyone would have been gunning for me if they had known.

Didn’t like to see Luke crying in the previews for next week… Tears are no bueno!

The show running late also threw me off… Normally I’m urging Andy Rooney to hurry up! ; -)

Not a fan of the goths, but even MORE UPSET at Amazing Race - only a 30 minute penalty for getting lost for hours and booking another flight?? Seriously???

Loved the little impromptu basketball game while waiting for the train!!!

Wasn’t getting lost penalty enough? 30 minutes seems appropriate.

I can totally understand Christina’s dad eating his way across China, sounds like something my dh would’ve done. All the foods of his childhood that he can’t quite get here. He would lose the race for food.

The goths are not my favorite team, but what else could they do? They missed the assigned flight–they could not travel back in time in order to make the flight!! Their only recourse was to book another flight.

I agree. The problem is that this was another one of those where they’re really not finished when they think they are, the race continues, yet there’s a very long ‘wait’ time period between the two halves that allowed the goths to catch up with everyone else even though were ridiculously behind such that being behind was irrelevant. In the ‘normal’ show that wouldn’t have happened - they would have come in last and been booted off as they should have been.

I’m rooting for the cowboys or the globetrotters to win it.

Just got around to watching the latest episode tonight…

The Luke and Margie parts were hard to watch. I felt so bad for them - he was trying so hard! Seeing parent/child pairs break down is upsetting.

So glad Mallory and her dad came in first!! I love her. I wish I could be that happy and enthusiastic all the time!

Smelling the tea was a smart idea. Don’t know if I would have thought of that… And I now have a craving for Snapple! India doesn’t look as nutso as I had envisioned. Maybe after the next episode I’ll think otherwise. Speaking of which, why do we have to wait two weeks? I need my Phil fix every week. ; -)

I agree that the Luke and Margie parts were hard to watch. As a mom, I felt badly for them on the tea drinking task. I felt even worse when I heard that it had taken Luke four hours to complete that task, and that Margie had been suffering from food poisoning and that’s why she didn’t do it. Watching Margie with Luke is interesting to me. She does such a good job of encouraging his independence and thought processes but her concern and protectiveness are always evident on her face.

jambaby, it’s some sort of country music awards show that is preempting TAR on Sunday.

Ok, gotcha… Poor Luke and Margie! 4 hours?? Food poisoning?? I would have been crying too.

TAR is my FAVORITE show on TV! I hated the red heads, do like the goths, and the cowboys, and think the Globetrotters make me laugh the most.

A couple of seasons ago I thought it could be a very interesting season to bring back all the 2nd to last teams. Talk about competition!

Looking forward to next week already.

Okay, I fell for it and bought the special edition Amazing Race Snapple–not bad.

Margie and Luke’s relationship has always bothered me. He seems unhealthily dependent upon his mother and very immature for his age. While I understand that having a child with a significant disability creates a special dynamic, what I’ve seen doesn’t bode well for Luke’s ability to live independently. Has it even been revealed whether he attends college or has a job, or what his interests are?–his whole identity on the show seems to be about his deafness, which Margie’s whole identity seems to be about supporting and defending him. If there is a lot more to them, the TAR editors have certainly done them a disservice.

MommaJ, I read an article about Margie and Luke recently and having previously felt like you did about the dependence issue, I can say that the article dispelled that feeling. Although I think that often Luke’s frustration manifests as immature, when compared to some other young men who have been on the race, I think I’d prefer that to the angry and aggressive reaction that some, like Brent (Miss Teen USA’s boyfriend) or Chad (from last season who proposed to his girlfriend on the race) exhibited at frustrating times during the Race.

Luke had recently graduated from college when he was on the Race the first time. Apparently, prior to the filming for this season, he’d been travelling across the country doing public speaking engagements related to his hearing impairment, and will be going to grad school in the fall. I think that he and Margie do have a very close relationship but I think perhaps the editing of the show magnifies the overprotectiveness and the dependence. We aren’t seeing anywhere close to everything that goes on and they certainly do edit things in a particular way in portraying each team. Just an example, there was never a hint in either season that Luke is gay, because the producers wanted them as the mom/deaf son team, and not the mom/gay deaf son team.

I wasn’t super sad to see Ron and Christina go… He was too much. I think the Goths’ downfall is going to be their constant bickering… None of the other teams seem to be having that problem, really. Loving the Cowboys. Pumped for next week - getting out of India! And I still have a hankering for some Snapple.

Also - have the non-elimination legs been replaced by the “hang on, you’re still racing” legs?

I was certain this last week was going to be a non-elimination week, because I to have noticed they’re ‘missing’. I don’t recall so much drama with the Goth’s before. I liked their spirit much more the last time they were on. Go Cowboys!
