Can some enlightened person tell me why Kynt and Vyxsin are considered “goths”? My image of the goth shtick is dark clothing and a dark outlook on life (though I may be way off base), not bright pink hair, clown makeup, and a desire to to compete on reality TV and travel all over the world. It strikes me that they are just two people who like to dress up in odd outfits and shock bystanders–but at ages 31 and 29, they’re kind of old to be playing dress-up–to say nothing of pretending they’re “dating”.

^^ I had the same image in my mind of goths as you but I don’t consider myself that enlightened on the topic. The show keeps calling them the goths though.

What did everyone think about the finale??

I felt SO bad for Gary and Mallory getting stuck with that god-awful taxi driver. Major ugh moment.

Even though I was really rooting for Gary and Mallory, I’m happy that Jen and Kisha won! The girls definitely deserved the $$ considering the fact they never won a leg! Everyone else won a trip or two. I also love that another all female team won. Did anyone else think the trailer park task was totally lame? What happened to the task where they have to use all their knowledge from past legs to figure a puzzle out, etc? I kept waiting for that to come up!

Can’t believe it’s over! Congrats Jen and Kisha!!

It would be such a bummer to have a bad taxi driver ruin it for you!! I would have been happy with any of the teams winning but I found myself rooting for the Globetrotters at the end. I thought the underwater place was creepy. And the trailer park was pretty stupid. I couldn’t look at that ladies hair!!! Kind of sad it is over. It was a good season. Congrats to Kisha and Jen.

I liked all of the final teams tonight and I’m happy for the sisters who won.

It was a major stroke of bad luck on the cab driver for Mallory and her dad but I guess that’s the way it goes in this competition.

I was waiting for it too but I assume they skipped the memory/puzzle at the end because all of these are ‘re-contestants’ who were probably all expecting to have to do that at the end so they decided to end with road blocks.

I like how the sisters are planning to do something for their mother with their winnings.

Once Justin and Zev were eliminated, I was pulling for Gary and Mallory.

Honest, I think they should take cabs out of the finale - I don’t know how many times the cab driver was largely responsible for the “win” as opposed to the teams talents! Clearly, Gary and Mallory made up a good bit of their time based on their skills, but a bad cab driver negates all of that!

I too thought the trailer park task was a disappointment. Heck, if it wouldn’t have been windy it would have been even less challenging! And BTW, that tricycle ride at the end - in the wind - must have been KILLER!!!

I prefer the tasks on the usual final episodes. Beyond Gary & Mallory’s cab issues, there didn’t seem to be much suspense on this final leg.

I agree. Disappointing final episode. Though, if I recall, everyone breezed through that memory task last season so not a lot of suspense on that one last year either. When the Globetrotters checked their bags, I kept thinking that maybe something would happen there, but nope.

I was disappointed but I still love the show. What I found disappointing, in addition to the proverbial bad taxi driver, was that the weakest team (in my opinion) of the four remaining teams ended up winning. Kisha and Jen never had a first finish until last night, unlike the other three teams who had 9 between them.

I imagine that they eliminated the memory task because everyone expects it now and have probably taken detailed notes along the way. With all the beauty in the Miami area, I thought it was pretty insulting for Florida for them to choose the tacky underwater task and the one at the trailer park.

One last comment - poor Zev and Justin getting waxed! Ouch!!

Waxed and then eliminated. Bad day. :)

Dh laughed SOOOOO hard at Zev and Justin’s waxing. Hmmmmm, maybe a future Father’s Day gift. ;)

Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought that the underwater mermaid place was just plain weird/creepy! Same with the trailer park (and that lady’s hair, ha ha). I also felt so bad for the guys getting waxed. Yikes! It wouldn’t have been bad for the girls (especially if you had just shaved your legs, underarms, etc) but poor Zev and Justin!!

Also - how good did those drinks on the beach look? I totally would have made one for myself for the cab ride… ; -)

Youdon’tsay- I also thought something terrible was going to come from the Globetrotters checking their bags…

The waxing was hysterical!!! The drinks did look great. I love how the Globetrotters made everything a performance.

I started following Zev on Twitter (and a couple of the others) - he’s a crack-up!

Here’s a thought - I am not sure why they ended up doing two episodes in one night. Is there something on the network next Sunday that would have interferred? Cause I had a thought that maybe they put them both on one night because they feared that once Justin and Zev were gone - with the three remaining teams being kind of average in popularity - that people wouldn’t tune in to the finale if it was a week later??? Just a random thought…

abasket, apparently there is a 3 hour Survivor finale on CBS next Sunday. I don’t know if that was the reason for the programming or not but the Race used to have the two hour finale format in earlier seasons. I like when they do it this way and hope that they decide to stay with the old format in coming seasons.

Sat down last night to watch TAR, and was really surprised to hear it was the finale!

That said…some good bits (the hair waxing of Zev and Justin, literally had me in tears from laughing so hard), watching Mallory & Gary catch back up - although still not enough)…and some disappointments…for a finale of folks who had been on before, I expected far more challenging obstacles. The trailer park “challenge” would have been a cakewalk were it not for the wind, as would the trike ride (without the wind). The underwater thing was purely bizarre.

I too thought ‘uh oh’ when the Globetrotters checked in their bags.

All in all a good season, but I really would have enjoyed a more challenging finale (mental, not necessarily physical).

Good for Keisha & Jen! And bravo for Mallory for ALWAYS keeping that spirit of hers, I can’t say I could. :)

Not being that familiar with Aspergers syndrome, which Zev has, I looked it up. Apparently one of the common traits (common - but not always) is ‘physical clumsiness’. This brought a new perspective on Zev doing the dance in one of the final challenges. He had a really hard time with it but his issues with it might have been more than the typical person who can’t really dance. Given that, maybe the show could have come up with a challenge that was more ‘level’ between the teams. But perhaps Zev wouldn’t have wanted that.

I have to revive this thread now that the new season has started! I loved tonight’s episode! Phil was looking adorable per usual, and I’m liking all the teams so far. I wasn’t too thrilled to see the Survivor couple on this season considering they each won a million dollars already… I could not believe that girl lost her passport at the gas station! I thought it was over for them when that happened. The engaged couple that came in first is adorable… I’m also liking the married couple (husband was a football player) and the gay flight attendant couple. Watching everybody try (and fail) to repeat the Confucius proverb was hilarious.

I have to say - I was really hoping the grandparents would get the boot. They seem to be in slow motion, and the amount of time they spent looking for the first clue was crazy! They were telling Phil it was the hardest day of their lives, but the race only gets harder over time (and the first leg didn’t even involve any manual labor - it involved walking around, sitting in a boat, and making a phone call… Come on!). I guess there has to be a token old team on every season though.

Up next week - double elimination! So glad this show is back!

Jambaby, agreed on much of your post. I too like the couple that won, the football player - the snowboarders look like they will be personality-filled too!

That clue on the billboard was RIDICULOUS!!! Laughed when the one team thought maybe the guys red and yellow boxers sticking out of his pants was a clue!!

Not happy that we will lose 2 teams next week!

“token old team…” LOL, same with token blondes, the fighting brother and sister, the token gay guys…That whole passport deal was just strange.
