The annual what do you really want for the holidays?

A Time Back Machine

I want a Boston terrier puppy - from a rescue of course!

Well…she could also get you 18/24 bottles of wine! Leave a little space for you to fill in.?

I want my daughter to find a new job that will make her happy!

I am not good at gift giving, so I really appreciate specific lists. I know people think they sound too grabby, but they are so practical. I want to give stuff that people actually want.

People who are naturally good at gift-giving have no idea how challenging it is for the rest of us to think of what to give.

@oldfort’s wish for a 24 bottle wine fridge made me think of an idea my D had for me:

Sadly the champagne isn’t included. Sadly she did not get that big of a bonus.

I love giving gifts, I don’t enjoy getting them. I never want to tell people what I actually want. D comes the closest in getting things I like and would never buy for myself.

My fantasy list is simple - just order 1 of every single thing in the Athleta catalog - in my size. That’s simple.

In reality, I will ask for a few items of running/yoga clothes. H and I are going to D and SIL’s for Christmas and S will join us there. That will make me happy.

I just got back from a 2-week trip to Italy – the land of many beautiful things including ceramics and leather, my two favorites. But I actually BOUGHT NOTHING. (Well, except for a few small bottles of limoncello for my mother and inlaws. Gifts don’t count, right?) Which is a clear sign I’m over “things.”

So for the holidays I want: a bathroom remodel. And another trip.

A morning to sleep in with no interruptions and complete quiet

Funny about the Italy trip. My daughter and I spent a week in Italy in October. We bought a couple of small ceramics and bookmarks as souvenirs. We were happy with the little we bought and didn’t see anything else that even tempted us. My husband commented on how surprised he was by how little we bought. I guess I am also over “things”

Thought of a new one

I’d like to get my car detailed. I might schedule it regardless

I just made my Christmas list to email. I still need to make one with pictures to hang on my in-laws fridge

Anyway, it’s a lot of the usuals- some board games, jigsaw puzzles, a couple of tops, some books, some kitchen stuff.

How funny…I just told D23 today that I would love someone to give that to me as a gift!

At this point in my life, most things I want or need are things I would typically like to pick out myself.

Not a Christmas gift, but I’m very excited to be having a new garage door installed Wednesday. Ours has been dying a slow death (only opens if you hold the button the entire time, but even then it sometimes opens part way, then you have to close it and start over). Both remotes are broken to the opener, and only one of our three cars has a built in remote. I can’t wait to have working remotes for all cars, as well as a keypad entry, and a windows to bring some natural light into the garage.

This is what my life has become…when I’m excited by working appliances and a spotless car rather than a nice article of clothing, jewelry, etc.

Big box type stores sell replacement remotes. I’ve bought several over the last 20 years and they all worked fine.

I’d definitely rather have good tools and appliances than personal items! I want a garage. It’s certainly what we miss most from our previous house. Maybe Santa can put that in my stocking?

I’m hoping for inspiration from this thread. I asked for a couple of “boring” things - biking gloves that have fingers covered, a cute biking long sleeved t-shirt, some new slippers (shout-out for Emu slippers - I really like them), and I can’t think of anything else. We went on several vacations this year, and we already have 2 planned for next year, so I think the trips are replacing “stuff” for us.
I am going to put a remote for garage on my list. I know they have replacements from Amazon for not much money, and mine has the same problem described by @4kids4us.

I’d like my car detailed and also would like a mix tape or CD of songs/music my kids like and think I’d enjoy.
