The B Side - what song do you LOVE?

Responding to @Hoggirl’s thread about which song you despise . . . Which song do you absolutely LOVE and would listen to on repeat if you could?

I don’t mean a song that has meaning to you sentimentally necessarily (“this is the song from our wedding”). I mean which song(s) do you just think are a great combo of melody and lyrics?

I’ll start:

Crowded Table - by the Highwomen (great lyrics and harmonizing)

Wide Open Spaces - by The Chicks

Almost Home - by Mary Chapin Carpenter. Such a great chorus

Hard to be Happy - by Rob Thomas. Heard it described as the happiest song about depression

Knee Deep - This from a person who hates country music (but loves Jimmy Buffett).

Only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair.

What could be better than that?

Technically not a song because there are no lyrics.

I love music, and so many songs are ones I would listen to on repeat. I really, really like Brandi Carlile’s The Story and The Joke. For me, these songs are perfect … great lyrics, great music, great voice … I get chills.

Oh, and Heaven by Los Lobos.

See? Too many. Music is my love language.

If we can include pieces of music, no lyrics, for me it’s Santana’s Europa - after hearing Carlos discuss it and its conception, I hear it in a completely different way. To me it’s exquisite.

It is a beautiful piece. IMO, instrumentals are fair game (says the one who tossed in Horizon by Daft Punk, IMO, that entire disc is epic!).

I almost included a Santana song, too.

I just saw Santana in concert and this was on the set list. The show was excellent, but I know some people have given mixed reviews of their shows over the last few years. My biggest show quibble was that Carlos wore a super cool Santana hoodie which was NOT for sale at the merch table. I have since hunted for it everywhere, to no avail.

My favorite songs:

Led Zeppelin - Kashmir

Depeche Mode - Walking in my shoes; Never let me down. Too many DM songs to list really…the soundtrack of our lives and all that

Muse - Madness

Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressure
