The Bangladeshi Thread

@mayisha- as far as i knw, u will need trancripts of both schools. u will need the past four years records.

Yup hopeless is right

2 sets of Transcripts, 2 sets of Secondary School Reports and International Supplements and 2 counselor recommendations.

No you cannot attach any doc in a message but if you pm me your email id I can mail it to you. Your wish.

a real thanks to you all guys.

…and sorry, but i still have a question…

acc. to collegeboard, the test fees for sat reasoning test in india is:
$49(registration)+$29(int’l charge)+$24(for india and pak only)=$102
i understand this part, but the subject tests…

test fees for sat subject tests is:
$22(registration)+$29(int’l charge)+$24(for india and pak only)=$75
then it says add $22 for language+listening tests and $11 for other subject tests.

so my question is…suppose i give 3 subject tests then my total fees would be $75 + 3x$11
this or would it be 3x($75 + $11) ??

i know this is a stupid question, but the website says the $75 is for one registration only, so it got me all confused. please help me guys. my parents arent millionaires and i need to know the cost incurred in the tests beforehand. @DarthSpawnus has already helped me very much, but this one i need to know too.

thank you.

75+3 x 11= $ 108

thats just great…now i gotta go beg there too … the U.S better be worth all this! have u guys invited ur counselors and teachers yet? Is there any way to check whether they’ve received commonapp’s mail and have started workin on it?

Nope don’t do it online Mayisha

The student’s part of the common application and all additional supplement must be sent via online method.

The transcripts and O and A Level results go with Secondary School Report and Recommendation goes with Teacher’s Form. These docs must be filled on paper and sent via DHL/Fedex etc. Make sure the transcripts and recommendations bear the school’s letterhead and all pages of the forms, transcripts and recommendation must be attested by the school.

Shoot! But I’ve already sent them invitations! My private tutor works at CGS, n he was the one who asked me to go on with the online method…n it’s much better that way, isn’t it? You never know how long Fedex’s gonna take…oh n btw, thanx a ton for the samples; very few people are so true to their word these days:)

No problem. BTW don’t use that ID for college application. Use an id that sounds more formal

I think recommendations can be sent online …I don’t about transcripts though. Most seniors I know all applied by this method and it worked for them. Online is of course the best method.

If you send it via DHL it will take only 3 days to reach. However if you do send it via DHL then try to send it before Christmas.

LOL…i know the id sounds stupid, but it’s a relic from when I was a kid :)…i had a question regarding the A’Level transcript: it’s gonna be the same, right? instead of the subjects, we just write the units, like Bio 1, Bio 2 etc…AS units for Class XI, n A2 for Class XII… do tell me if I have it wrong

My high school administration just writes the subject name in the transcript- they don’t specify units taken so I think it should be something like AS Level Math AS Level Bio AS Level Chem and then A Level Math A Level Bio and A Level Chem with the corresponding grades.

The reasoning is at the end of the day, unis are going to see the Edexcel/CIE certificate in the final report which only lists the grades by subject and not by individual units taken.

Ok, thanks alot DarthSpawnus! Really appreciate it…btw, ur school doesn’t have a college counselor either, does it? Um assigning my class teacher as my counselor, as he has all my reports and stuff…is that ok? who r u putting up? n really sorry for being such a nag :(

Umm I think its better if you ask all these questions. A lot of potential applicants can find a lot of info this way. That is why this thread exists.

In my school, the school administration runs these things. They make all the transcripts and recommendations while the Principal basically reviews and signs the stuff. I think its best if your school’s principal signs the transcripts and counselor recommendation. Your class teacher at best can give the teacher’s recommendation.

My updates:

1.struggling with SAT 2.
2.praying 4 SAT 1.
3.having nightmares & daymares(if sumthing like that really exists, lol) about deadlines.

Go to sparknotes.com
That has some pretty cool stuff like revision notes and free practice test

And when I get nervous I eat a lot

lol, when i was typing the stuff over here, sparknotes was open on my other tab.

& yeah when i am nervous i eat, sleep, & watch tv a lot.

so i can multitask when i am nervous! wow, what a realization!

@DarthSpawnus-on a more serious note, r u sending the colleges copies of ur ECA certificates? in the arts supplements section, they say, “Please do not send us copies of awards or certificates.” why? also, although i have actively participated in school clubs, i wont b able to manage certificates from school since they ‘require’ me to complete two years of club service.
also, i am thinking of sending supplements( i have both national & international recognition) but i feel that these can just work against me.confused…

You are sending an art supplement as well? Me too!
Are you a painter?

I have decided to write and explain about the major awards only in my art supplement and attach a CD containing around 10-15 high quality images. Plus my counselor recommendation already stated my art related activities. So I think I don’t need to send certificates. More certificates= more paper they have to process so that is why colleges ask you not to send any additional paper materials.

Just attach an award list and make sure your counselor/teacher/principal talks about them in their recommendation.

no DarthSpawnus, I am not a painter. some other category…

so basically u will prepare a resume, ryt? & r u using the additional info on common app to highlight them? my category of submission has some serious drawbacks…so i m not confident about risking it!

Oh ok :)

Thats what I am confused about as well. I think its better to use the additional space in Common App. Art resumes are strictly speaking supplementary so I feel its safer if I put it along with Common App.

Don’t worry about art supplement. Just send your best works :)

1 really irrelevant question: hows ur mental state ryt now? I am completely losing my head. I dont see light anywhere, not even at the end of the tunnel! pessimism has taken full control over me…:(
