Ofc :P. I am both fluent and literate in Bengali (although I’d imagine my vocabulary does not stretch beyond that of a Bengali 3rd grader).

^:D come on man you kidding me.
@DarthSpawnus of course i chase my dreams not my resume. but i have a nagging feeling that my dreams will lead me nowhere worthwhile. not with you guys having amazing stupendous awesome stellar ECs. it just blows me outta the competition. not fair.

None of us have stellar ECs here. Period.

^True that.

And I cross the 150 mark, and in some style indeed. not.

you guys are telling me that you dont have stellar ECs? you guys? seems like you all are mocking me…:(

anyway stupid talks aside, hows the preparation going on??

@Akashdip Not kidding lol

^ill take your word for it then.

anyway how are you guys doing at school and hows your preparation going on?

and forgive me for another stupid question… are you guys sure of getting admission into at least one us college? dont laugh at me, but i have this feeling that i may not get admission anywhere. so is it normal or is it just me freaking out?

akashdip, your just freaking out, just relax.there would be atleast one college that would want to admit you i am sure your not that bad. Just have faith in yourself. People here in college confidential make it look more tough than the actual admission process is. Yes ivy league schools are tough to get in but not impossible, just have faith. And other state colleges are quiet easy and some are really easy to get in.don’t let anything shake your confidence because once you loose it your doomed.so keep your hopes high and I know you’ll get into the colleges you want.

^ yeah right. thanks.:)

akashdip,ur always welcome:D

So around how many schools are each of you applying to…? Anyone applying to schools in India/Germany/Signapore…?

^I am applying to 13. All in the US. I don’t know how I am going to complete the applications in time, but, yeah, that’s the plan now.

Okay. So I am confused. How do we send the common application online and the school forms(transcripts, certificates, LORs, additional LORs, teachers’ and counselor’s evaluation, and international supplement) by DHL?

Do I complete the student part of the common app on the common app website, including the supplements, and send them? Then use DHL to send the school forms? Do I have to say anywhere that I am sending part of the application by mail? And if I am doing the app both online and by mail(school stuff and additional recs), how do I send the fee waiver from my counselor? Don’t I have to pay to submit the commonapp?

How exactly are you doing it? I think we are all doing it the same way, but I am so damn confused here.

And when you mail the school forms, the package needs to be postmarked before the deadline, right? Not REACH there before the deadline? Or do I have it wrong?

@eatyoualive: deadlines r postmark deadlines(unless otherwise stated), ur documents shud leave BD by that deadline & not reach them. I am also pretty confused about free waivers.

if u r applying to 13, dont u have that “unlucky thirteen” phobia? lol!

Is everyone opting for the mail method? Isn’t it easier to do everything online?
And can some of you guys who are applying, please provide a list of the ECAs that you are gonna put on your app? That’s the only weak link in my app, and I wanna see how everyone else is faring … thanks :)

Mayisha, put the ec’s that you did on school,no one should lie on their application, they eventually understands who’s lying.you don’t have to put tons of ec’s on your app just to make it look like you were involved. They don’t see the breadth they see the depth.so put some of the ec’s that you actually have passion for.they want to see that you contributed to the club and did something important so just add things that you really love and were truly involved in. Don’t worry if you don’t have a lot of ec. Just explain them that you were involved in less clubs but you were really involved in those clubs and did something really important or you were an important part of the club.hope it helped.

Jeez amyharvard mayisha just asked about our ECs. She didn’t ask whether she needs to fake anything or not. This concept has been discussed a lot. Its better to not discuss these things again as they always lead to negative conversation.

BTW extending what you said, mayisha you do not need to be unduly worried about ECs. Just make sure you present them well in your application.

It’s just I don’t really have another succesful application to compare against, so I wanted to know what sort of ECAs Bangladeshis usually present…no1 said anything about lying… I mean, like, we can put in self-found study clubs and stuff like that, right? ECA parts the only thing that’s likely to get me down, so I need all the help I can get in that department … thanx
