@maishaa>> woww greatt scoreee>>> MIT interviewer sed dat r u sureee??? wenn did u contactt himm?? da deadline to contact interviewers was 10th Decembaa… who’s ur assigned EC???

@darth>> btw wen u guyz talk abt transcrippts u just meann quarterly school report cards rytt?? i mean da one where dey give u da marks fr class testss n stuff??

@hopeless>> i dnt geddit>> y do we havv to fillup da certification of finances b4 we get our finaid awards??? i meann if i put 5k per year, nd it turns out ma EFC is 10k per year denn were screwed rytt?? i heard da cert of finances goes to da embassy :(

@arif- i knw. but its for a college that is asking for it ryt now…hard to explain, the scholarships are merit-based and all. they r not even responding to my email as winter break is going!

@DarthSpawnus-I hope they are ok wid it. Umm I was wondering if u could tell me wether applying for financial decrease admission chances or not?.I know that a lot of skul say that they are need blind but i really doubt it.

@rex: Well asking for financial aid doesn’t matter when you apply to need blind colleges like Harvard, Princeton, MIT, Dartmouth, Amherst and Yale. When you apply to need-based schools like UChicago, Duke, Stanford, Caltech and rest of the Ivies, well asking for fin aid might hurt. However these schools regularly enroll intl students with aid so the key is to make yourself desirable to these schools.

@darth thanx a lot for the info.Is upeen or cornell need blind? I have a US passport and i am not gonna apply for financial aid but the fact that i have horrible sat score (1970) is what is making feel so hopeless for these schools.Does Upenn and Cornell value A levels? I mean i do have staright "A"s in my o level and A levels

Okay guys, did any of you have this problem? In the international supplement, my counselor told me he could only attach my A’Level certificate; when he tried to attach the O’Level ones, they weren’t coming up as separate docs, the O’Level cert was replacing the A’Level cert. So he just uploaded the A’Level one. I did include my O’Level results in my transcripts, but now there isn’t a certificate to verify it … now what?

@ Mayisha:Make a 2-page pdf of O and A Level certificates and then try uploading it.
I have no clue about online submissions.

@rex: Since you hold a US passport, Cornell and UPenn are need blind for you so it might help you to some degree. However since you studied at Bangladesh, you will be treated with the Bangladeshi pool of applicants at those schools.

Having straight A’s is okay. What is your SAT score break? Penn and Cornell accepts Jan scores I guess. Can’t you retake?

Are the O’Level scores really crucial? Thing is he’s submitted his school report already … omg … why don’t they let u submit multiple certificates??? that’s so weird, n totally not our fault !

I can retake it but i wont coz I hate the SAT more than anything else.No maatter how much i tried i could never do well in the cr section. My breakdown is 680math 690 writing and 600 cr. i guess the ivies are not a reach for me but i hope that I can get into places like bosotn college , wake forest or mayb UCB

I am confused about the international certificate of finances as well. But I will most likely send it in a few days, because one of my colleges want it before…I have no idea why.

Are you going to fax it? Or are you going to DHL it?

And everyone else…all of you done submitting the apps? I have all but finished. I have 4 colleges left.

@ Eatyoualive: Intl. Certification of Finance is mostly for those applicants who can fully pay the college expenditure. If it is a required component of need based fin aid application as well then I suggest faxing or emailing it to the financial aid office.

@ mayisha: O Level grades are obviously crucial. Everyone is going to submit those. Do you want colleges to miss a vital component of your application? Email the college and ask them for suggestions. That’s the best I can think of.

@ rex: Cheers to that! I abhor the SAT. Are you applying for engineering? Case Western and WPI are good options as well. Also you are a resident of which state? (sorry I am bored )

@ number287: How much did sending each application via FEDEX cost you?

@maishaa>>> as DArth said, make a multiple page pdf>> i made a 5 page Pdf (O level cert, o level mark sheet, A level cert, AS marksheet, A2 marksheet) and sent it to ma counselor>>>> denn he can upload da single pdf :)

@darth… Case western and WPI do dey offer finaid to intls??? ive applied for engineering evrywhere>>>

Where did all of u guys finally decide to apply to??? i applied MIT, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Trinity College, Lafayette College, applied for full finaid… slim chances bt den who cares, at least i tried lol…

Btw, how much do typos matter? I just realized that even after proofreading, my supplement had 2 typos…“years” for “ears”…and something else. So embarrassing.

WPI offers limited aid to around 10 internationals per year I guess.
Case Western doesn’t.

Arif getting into an engineering school is pretty hard do you know that? I suggest you look at some other liberal arts college. Oberlin, Grinnel, Connecticut and some others have Jan 15 as deadline. Write some solid essays, show interest towards the school through the “Why College X” essay and you should get in.

Keep in mind that HYPM are very hard to get into.

@darth i am a resident of Maryland and um probably gonna do a major in biochemistry and maybe islamic studies. My top choice is Boston college. I was thinking of case western but then again i already applied to a lot of unis. Hey is the mid year report important? I mean not all universities want it.I am so gonna screw up my exams in skul coz i spent the last four months studying for the SATs only.

Make sure you apply to University of Maryland system. Since you are a resident of Maryland, the campuses under U of Maryland system should be your safety.

Mid year report is important for those colleges that asks it. I am taking my A2 exams in Jan and still I have to submit a midyear report to UChicago.

yah i was gonna apply there but then i cam across this statement “us citiziens and permantent residents with non US academic record must apply by November 30th” and i was like ok this is uni is off my list coz it was already december.
