afaik any applicant already enrolled in a college can apply only as a transfer student. i might be wrong. or your case might be different. lets wait for what the adcoms have to say.

@RoughE lol the lullaby! xD.
and i’d rather be honest than run the slightest risk of being ‘blacklisted’. nothing’s more humiliating.

@Decibel: A college level course is simply any course that has content and workload with a high enough degree of difficulty that a college will grant a student credit for completing it.

As far as I know, colleges won’t grant you credit for taking courses at Dhaka University, if you apply as freshman. They will credit you if you are admitted as a transfer. In Bangladesh, you basically have 2 options for college level courses: A levels and IB Diplomas. I am not sure if AP courses are available in Bangladesh.

@Decibel lets await the word of the adcoms but i do think you’ll have to apply for a transfer. since transfer applicants have a disadvantage over the regular ones, i suggest take a break from cc & work hard to catch the attention of the adcoms, if you know what i mean. do research with seniors, get an internship. participate in competitions & olympiads. do a lot of things to make your resume attractive & perhaps even lucrative.

@RoughE: Congrats for Vandy! btw are’t you currently enrolled in IBA?

Hey guys I am new, I am also a Bangladeshi, and I will hopefully be a part of class of 2017!
But if I am not wrong rough E, is your initials SH?

And Decibel. Are your initials DB?

@number287: Thanks, and LOL dude, I did not even apply to IBA, let alone enroll. I think you are confusing me with someone else…

@abyssalstorm welcome to cc.
and what’s with this initials thing? how is it that suddenly everyone comes to know of each other’s initials?

@abyssalstorm: No dude, my initials are not SH. lol, this is funny. Everyone is confusing me with someone else…SH enrolled at IBA, afaik. I did not enroll anywhere…

@RoughE any more good news? i hope not! you’re already too lucky! give the others a chance!

@akashdip: he got my initials wrong. thing is, news of acceptances spread pretty fast. So, people hear someone got into Vandy, and automatically assume I’m that guy. I have not informed the world about my acceptance. Only people very close to me know of it. People are getting rejections and waitlists left and right, and I feel I owe them the courtesy of not rubbing it in their face.

you guys know each other only in this forum, right? i cant understand how anyone confuses ‘someone’,whom he doesnt even know personally, with ‘someone else’!!

I welcome all the 17ers to this thread.

Don’t mention initials and names in these forums. The whole purpose of it the forum is to maintain anonymity. If you really want to know someone pm that person.

Its great to see discussions flowing in this thread but hopefully it will remain relevant to college admissions!

Thank you :D

@RoughE ok i get your point now. and its quite clever & noble of you to not announce your acceptance standing on a pedestal.

@akashdip: Its a small world, brother!!

and agree with Darth, respect anonymity folks…

@DarthSpawnus sorry to be such a pain in the neck. occasionally i get carried away a little. i hope you forgive me for my childishness.

hey darth, since this is technically your thread, i should ask for your permission first. you aint got a problem if we occasionally talk about music, movies & stuff, you know, hitting the less serious notes of life, have you?

This isn’t my thread. This thread belongs to Bangladeshi applicants in College Confidential so no need to ask anyone’s permission.

But I don’t think college confidential moderators will approve that. There are separate forums for that in CC.

since i am in no way a ‘bangladeshi applicant’, so i do need to ask for permission first.
i dont see why the moderators wont approve of it. after all talking about college the entire year is undoubtedly gonna be very boring. i’m sure they’ll understand.
